nope. 941 512 348 10 is the cabrio part (there's only one), 944 512 348 00 (and 944 512 349 00 RHS) for the hatch. I guess the pressures are a "little" different.
 
Jeez, putting coupe ones on a cab would take your head off when you turn the key in the boot lock!
 
Well at the moment nothing happens!

I have to try and get my fingers in tha gap and prise the boot lid open. Although it does stay open once it up. New struts me thinks.
 
That's exactly how mine was for the whole time I owned the car. No idea if it's right or not but I didn't find it a problem. Practically no coupe hatches open on the button either.
 
I didn't even realise the boot was supposed to open when you turn the key or push the button. Guess it makes sense now.

are new struts easy to fit??
 
The strut is not supposed to open the hatch. The small plastic inserts inside the hatch locks are supposed to open the hatch slightly when the release is pressed, and the struts are there to balance the weight of the hatch.
 
ok thanks. I must need new plastic inserts then becuase when i press the button inside the car, all the mechanisms work but the hatch stays where it is and then obviously locks up again.
 
I read somewhere (so might be wrong), that Porsche (or VW!) designed the hatch to open fully when the key or button is pressed. They said this didn't happen in reality because the the hydraulic power required from the struts was never up to the task.

Previously (i.e before redesign of the rear), if I left my boot in the open but latched position (i.e to get to the battery pre-conditioner after it had died after a few days), the hatch would open itself - usually took a couple of minutes.
 
If your hatch struts are fresh you simply push the button in the footwell (or turn the key in the lock) and the hatch springs fully open.

That's what both of mine do [:)] coz I bought new struts from Bert Gear (under £20 IIRC)
 
Do I assume that the struts should lift the boot as soon as the catch is released so that the interior switch works? If so mine are old and need replacing - any preferred source?

Yes - spot on.

I got mine from Bert at www.berlyn-services.co.uk for I think £20 each.

I'd also try Adrian Oxley at Exeter OPC 01392 822800 as he generally doesn't charge postage on small items and is always open to a discount [:)]
 
I've just spotted an outfit selling new ones on eBay, looks like a shop rather than a one-off. Didn't buy them, so can't comment on how good they are.
 
I bought a set of Bonnet struts of Steve Dean on ebay, and they have ben fine for over a year now. he also has tailgate struts £10 each. Advertises as Ninefourtwo

For info guys, Steve sells them cheaper on Ebay (£9.99 each) than advertised on his site (£13.29 each).
Just bought myself a pair and look forward to the tailgate opening as intended in future [:)]
 
I just tried to buy some boot struts from eBay using the user ID of ninetwofour, but at the moment he's not advertising anything. His web site is playing up too - when I came to try to pay, Paypal gave an error saying that payments could not be sent to the account. [:(]

So, I ended up trying to call Adrian at OPC Exeter. He's moved on now - sounds like a promotion, so well done Adrian! Chris now does his old job, and he's getting me some OE ones for £52.72 including postage and my PCGB discount. [;)]
 
I have just bought my boot struts from ninetwofour on ebay. They are made by 'LIFTEX'
The only problem I have had with since fitting them, and not sure if it is down to the struts, but my interior light would not switch off. This was traced down to the connectors on the offside strut - I have left it unconnected for the time being since whatever I do does not fix it.
I still need to adjust the hatch pins so they release better as the hatch does not lift on its own.
