Bose in Cabriolet

I have just sold my 2002 cabriolet which had the standard sound system. Generally when driving topless I like to enjoy the engine/exhaust sound rather than listen to the radio. However on long trips ie to France etc I have music on.

I have an new 997 cab due in April and am debating about whether a Bose sustem is worth the extra expense given that the new car has as standard a better system than the 996 .

The bumpf states that the Bose has "noise cancelling" properties" etc etc. I obviously cannot test either system as there are no cabs until April.

Can anybody advise or comment.

Many thanks

Jonathan

New car spec

997 ( would have to wait until Sept for an S)
Tiptronic
Electric seats with ruffled leather
Multifunction wheel sat nav and phone
19" Carreras
PASM
Park assist
Homelink
Xenons

I can only comment regarding the coupe. I listened to both Bose & non Bose, and to be honest I didn't like the extra base sound put out by the Bose system. The cockpit is so compact anyway, it's just like wearing glorified headphones really!
I'd rather spend that sort of money upgrading the house system.

Thanks for your reply. Its what I thought. I expect in a saloon with no engine or road noise a Bose system is great but in a Porsche its abit of a waste of money.

I have decided to stick with the standard (upgraded compared with the 996) system and as you say use the money for a home upgrade.
