Hi

Does anyone know how to fit the rear speaker kit on a 986, its an original porsche part, is the wiring already in place? or is it a start from fresh? I have the CDR22 head unit.

Thanks all

There are two rear speakers for the Boxster: one Bose one (which I believe is a sub-woofer only) and one, er, normal. The Bose one will be very low impedance and requires the Bose amp, The other option is full range and can be run off a conventional amp - but I don't think the CDR22 will have sufficient poke. I also understand your car will only have cabling if it once had a Bose fitted.

Thanks for that, I don't think it is the bose one, it has a speaker either side and a wooffer in the middle, I do have the amp fitted under the bonnet, will this have sufficient poke do you think

If you have the amp in the front boot, do you also have the door speakers? I'm not sure that you could run dash speakers, door speakers and rear speakers all of the same amp.

If its any help, there's a guy on BoXa.net who has fitted the "Harvey PNP" US-supplied rear speaker kit himself. Message me if you want to be put in contact. Or just sign up and view this thread.

Hi

I have connected the Bose rear subwoofer to an alpine amp and it works fine. It is very sesnitive so you will onlyneed 25wpc amp,but you will need to set the amp to subwoofer mode (which filters out high frequency).

Just to say if you set it up right it sounds great !
