Hi all,
This is my first post. After a little looking around, and reading all I could find about the 968 Ive bought one [:)]
Now, apart from Drive and enjoy what next?
I know there are several little jobs to do, mostly cosmetic, on it. Is there a haynes manual type of book for these?
Im based near J23 of the M1, any local knowledgeable types about here?

Dave

Drive the wheels off it and look after it like any other car you care about [:D]

I used to live up that way (Barnet) but I didn't have the 968 then so I don't know anyone local.

If you fancy a proper run, some of us from Thames Valley are going down to Goodwood for the Breakfast Club on Sunday. Check the R19 forum for details.

Welcome.

You could come along and see how potent your new car is on the dyno at Janspeed on Saturday. A day out in Wltshire?

No Haynes as such. Try Clarks Garage, the workshop manuals and the various fora for the how to's.

Cheers

Oily

Im picking the car up this weekend (hopefully, still got to sort insurance and times).
Ive joined PCGB, so hopefully Ill se some of you at meets and suchlike.

Hi Dave
Welcome - the East Midlands Region (8) of the club meet 1st Monday of the month ie next Monday, not very far from you at the Coopers Arms Weston-on-Trent.
Pub is good and the people great, all types of cars from my 2.5 944 to 997 Gen 2 GT3.
We had a photo shoot last month - PhotoShoot
I'm just by J21 on the M1, so will be passing 7:15ish Monday, if you're interested, my number is below.
Hope you enjoy your car and the Club as much as I have over the past 2 1/2 years.
Cheers
Mike

Collected my new toy today. Got a few niggles, mostly minor in terms of seriousness, so expect a flurry of questions [;)]
Like the drive, it does roundabouts like my mini used to, but with twice the poke (the mini was *somewhat* modified [8D] )

The basic list of must sorts are loose spoiler, wheel refurb, slightly loose lights in front valance, central locking only working on drivers door, and getting 1 key to open the doors and start the car with.

Should be at the R8 pub meet on monday eve, look forward to meeting people and getting some advice.

Looks in great nick! CTS in Derby do good wheel refurbs. They'll paint and powdercoat (though they send the wheels away for powdercoating).

Not sure if you've thought about servicing yet. If you intend to use a decent specialist then take a look at Zentrum in Nottingham. A bit of a pain to get to but the guys are as knowledgeable about these cars as anyone and are not looking to rip you off. My turbo saw no-one else and I learned alot about it from those guys.

The only think i'd say is to make sure you know about he timing belt history if you havn't already. Make sure you adhere strictly to the replacement interval. These things are bullet proof so long as you do what Porsche say you have to do to maintain them.

As to your question about what to do next - I think there is a great case here of not meddling - which is a very unblokish thing to do! I think just drive and enjoy it is the only thing i'd say. Don't be afraid to clock up some miles on her, she will reward you.
