Having just bought a Boxster (2000) and joined the PCGB I am looking for some tips on how to "drive" my new toy. Could someone point me in the right direction ?

Thanks,

Topless :ROFLMAO:

if you want to learn a lot more about the capabilities and limits of yourself and your new toy I can recommend a "car limits" course with Andy Walsh. You will learn an awful lot in a very short space of time and some of it may help you out in an emergency too. Best ÂŁ150 I have spent. goto www.carlimits.co.uk for more info.I am in no way connected , just a happy customer. So much so I'm going back later this month[:)]

Do the training as suggsted above, then get on a Trackday as soon as you have a feel for the car. Bedford's a good venue to start with - not the most exciting venue, but loads of run off should you have "a moment".

check out the pedals at the bottom of the drivers side of the dash and the circular device in front of that seat... have a prastice with these, as well as the lever in between both seats.. should do the trick [&:]

I had the same issue when I bought a Caterham a few years ago. I used Cadence which is without doubt the best ÂŁ200 I have spent (except that time at the Rio Carnival but we won't go there). You will get so much more pleaure driving "properly" than merely "fast". Any muppet can squeeze 200bhp out of a Nova and smoke you at the lights, but learning how to get the most out of the car is by far a better experience.

Thank you guys .

Sundeep & daro911 - wondered where I was going wrong!

Mr Tims - made it home last night then? After "training" could head to bedford with you and Ron?

Laurence - Thanks, will contact Andy Walsh

Timc - cheers

Should be dot.com, not co.uk.

Anybody know of any of these driving schools oop north ?[:D]

Thanks

Anyone want to book a date for Car Limits?. They have dates available in July in Essex.

Neil

Don't know why, but hadn't twigged it was you.[8|]

Yes I got home OK thanks - bad decision to get on the ESB all night though.

You could well do worse than have Ron or I sit with you on your 1st track day, but a session of intruction round the track is well worth considering. I'm not going to Bedford this year myself but if you book something up, let me know. The PCGB days may all be booked by now, but Goldtrack & Easytrack run generally very organised days.

Tell him Melvin sent ya!!

Neil,
With the PCGB membership you will get a monthly magazine Porsche Post; Mark Kendrick writes a monthly article called, "Improve your Driving Skills with Mark Kendrick", which you will find useful. He offers 1 to 1 performance driving training via www.BespokeDriverTraining.co.uk , has anyone given it a go?

Thanks Guys! I think I will give one of these schools a try!

I bought my Boxster S in May last year . However, I made sure I had switchable traction control so that the car could get me out of trouble if I squeezed a little too hard, too early coming out of a corner...
