Bought a lovely 944 2.7

Hi all, been joined up on here a couple of months since my interest in 944s was awakened mid-summer by seeing a D reg white Lux for sale while out on a bike ride.

Took me a couple of months to get my big Dodge truck sold and find a nice 2.7 to buy. Looked at one or two before plumping for this one. Always wanted an oval dash car (and a 2.7 if I could get one). As soon as I saw this one I knew I had to have it as it's virtually mint considering it is 23 years old. 135k on the clock, an excellent history and belts, cluthc all recently done.

First impressions on the 90-mile drive home after picking it up were excellent - car drives fantastically - virtually like a modern day car. All seems in good order save for the dim dash lights, but I've been reading up on those. Headlamp washers are u/s as well but I've been informd the pipe has been cut and plugged for some reason so there's a job for a weekend in the future.

Car was first registered in Feb '90 at Dick Lovett in Swindon. Will be on here with a few questions of course (aren't all new owners?) as the winter rolls on. This is a daily driver and at the moment, due to the garage being filled by an American classic, will remain outside for the forseeable but I've full confidence that it'll shrug any winter excesses off with no problem (given the time I shall spend keeping it in good order).

Happy to be here!

Thanks Darryl. I can't see the pics - no idea whether anyone else can ... (they looked fine in the preview)

Edit: they seem fine now.

Looks like a nice clean original example . How much did you pay for it ? Are the sills in good condition ? Must be one of the last 2.7 built

That looks very tidy!

Full cloth in the front is nice, that and the door cards cost the original buyer about £350 plus the VAT! I've not seen the option for full-cloth rears listed, though. Does anyone know if that was a later option, my price list is only an '88 MY one.

That looks lovely - congratulations!!

I nearly went to look at a very similar 2.7 when I was looking, same colour - but unfortunately it needed a lot of work doing to it as it had missed a few services over the years. I was always 50:50 on the colour, but having seen your pics I think it looks great.

That side profile on the original teledials looks great, so much so that it's got me thinking about switching mine back again!!

My old 2.7 had full Porsche logo interior, front, rear and door cards.

I think the extended cloth option code covered the rears as well.

Looks great. Colour works well, makes a change from red and the interior matches nicely. The more you use it the better, just get a spare DME relay!

Dave is spot on. If you opted for the full material then it included the back. As soon as I saw it I though: couldve had sports seats for the cost of the fabric option...
