Can you tets the BOV on a turbo? and when they fail is it all or nothing?

Car is on the road now and I want everything spot on before it goes on the rolling road.

For those that are interested Chris from WRC is running a RR in Wellingborough - it is a Dyno Dynamics and the results have been checked and proven to be on a par with the RR at Silverstone that was.

Cheers

They generally fail by the diaphragm wearing out and allowing boost leaks. You can test it by emoving the vacumn pipe from the top and sucking on it. If it holds a vacumn it's okay, if you can suck air through then it's leaking. The standard Porsche one was updated when the 993 Turbo came out and has a metal diaphragm which lasts longer compared to the plastic one on the 944 original. Costs around £40 from an OPC

Aftermarket ones from places like Turbo Dynamics are even better because they have a metal piston inside and this can cope with the higher boost pressure from a modified car.
