Bowing Out !

I decided to part-ex my '54 plate C2S today after 2 years - 11k miles and took a £19k drop on it, only a few more grand than anticipated, so could have been worse I suppose? (Lost £18k on my M3 in 3 years - 28k miles, so it kind of stacks up - on the road price wise?)

What with an impending sizeable mortgage hike next spring and a bit of poor judgement in Spanish property investing on my part, it was time to downsize my investment in cars and motoring expenditure. I had to run an extra coal burner for work as I was/am a bit too OCD over the 911 and wouldn't leave it anywhere!!

I am dropping into an '06 Exige S for a bit and whilst that car has startling performance, plus the sweetener of dropping £15k back into my savings account - I still had a lump in the throat when unloading the car ready for taking to the dealers - this was a head over heart decision for sure.

Had a major heart stopper on the motorway dropping the car off, looking at the exit sign with the power on, hit some standing water and did a 4 x fishtail at about 80mph - could have almost been an insurance job rather than a part-ex!!

I bet you are asking yourself why is he writing this drivel? - but it is like therapy for me as 'Er Indoors is now bored with me going on about it!

Would just like to finish by saying that the 997 (in S guise at least - can't comment on standard version) is a stunning motor car in pretty much all aspects - if I simply can't bear it (Exige may prove to be "challenging" as an everyday motor?) I will have to come back, maybe in Cayman format?

TTFN.

For similar money you could have got a Cayman, see Pistonheads. Anyway good luck with the Lotus, which can challange the non athletic when getting in or out. You'll be back, just a matter of time.[:)]
Now how about a sweepstake to guess how long?

Sorry to hear of you leaving us Neil, I hope the Lotus somehow compensates for the lack of Pork..

We all take turns in life and I fully understand your reasoning, but sometimes its nice to return [;)] later in life when things change again..

Mike has just posted he was looking for a 997..... might have been easier than the trade in..

all the best garyw

Cheers Gary, I think I will give the Lotus a "bit of stick" and do some tracking etc to compensate. I always promised myself a trip to the 'Ring in the 911, but never quite got round to it [&o]

Fingers crossed, I will be back when the 998 or whatever the next 911 is, appears on the radar?
