BOWOOD 2004 FOUR REGIONS ANNUAL CONCOURS SUNDAY 23RD MAY 2004

The stately home, Bowood House, Calne, Wiltshire, is once again the venue for our Annual Regional Concours. This year Region 13 Hereford & Worcester, Region 14 South Wales and Region 26 Dorset and Somerset are joining Region 16 Gloucestershire for a combined event.

Bowood is a popular venue partly because it offers more than just the Club activities. Tickets for the event include entry to the stately home, the gardens and the now famous children's adventure playground, all of which can be an added interest to those members of the family who do not want to drool over polished Porsches and poke about under bonnets all day. The venue also offers an established licensed restaurant and coffee shop.

Last year the event attracted some 100 Porsches and our concours attracted some 40 entries. This year, we are keeping the same concours classes and are introducing two new street class categories as may be an introduction to concours or for those who just want to give the car a good polish and show it without getting too serious. We are also introducing one more class "The Custom or Open Class" this year as an experiment which may be modified for future years in the light of experience. This class is for cars that do not meet the strict originality criteria required in the Classic Classes. They may have non standard wheels, mirrors, paintwork or different spoilers to the original, or even special aero kits fitted, such as those supplied by Tech Art, Gemballa or Zeemax and the like. The main restrictions will be no kit cars and no replicas. This year the majority of concours cars will be assembled in the main arena and judging will take place at a central point under an open-sided marquee.

We are having driving tests this year, however, we are restricted to tests that involve no element of speed, so these will involve purely skill and judgement and will be run by South Wales Region. In addition, by popular demand we are also having an autojumble.

All Registers who would like to attend are invited and should contact the Regional Organiser with their details.

For Entry forms for the event and concours, driving tests and autojumble, please see April edition of Porsche Post. Gates will be open at 8.30am and prize giving at approximately 3.30pm. Concours judging will start at 10.30am sharp and driving tests from 11.30am

To round off the day, there will be an early evening informal dinner at Bowood Golf and Country Club, come as you are no need to change or dress up!! The cost for a three course meal is £16.00 per person. Prebooking is essential by no later than 9th May and please send cheque made out to M H Shannon and send to 4 The Knowle, Stockley Lane, Calne, Wiltshire, SN11 0SE.
