Boxster 2.7 buying tips

wormand

New member
Hi,

A friend of mine is looking to buy a 2.7 privately (I think its a manual). I'm a 911 man myself, but he wants me to go and see the car with him to give it the 'once over'. Other than the usual checks you would do with any used car, are there any known issues that could be identified during an inspection and test-drive to highlight a dodgy one??

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi Warwick,

You haven't mentioned the age of the boxter so I guess the a good look round the body work would be a start. Check the service book for regular services. If you can get a look under it and check for oil leaks the RMS being the usual fault in them. Check the front of the car where the radiators are located for stuff lodged in there and check for corrosion of the radiators. The carpets below the seats if they are wet can lead to expensive repair bills as there is a load of electronics under the passenger seat this is caused by blocked drains which can be checked by lifting the roof into service mode. Just a few pointers the other boxter guys will have some more. Your mate might want to take it to an independent specialist nearby I bought a book by Peter Morgan the ultimate buyer guide for Boxters and Caymen which is very informative for things to look out for when buying a Boxter

Hope this is of help

Chris

Tell your mate if its a good one and he buys it he will love it.
