I want the radio on my after market satnav to play for an hour after I turn off the ignition. Anyone know how this can be done?

I put a 30 second delay into mine. This was to allow me to turn the engine off and not kill the head unit (that links to my phone: the last unit would lose connection if the ignition was off). I would then turn the ignition back on if needed (but not restart the engine)

Used the ignition feed to 'trigger' a circuit. Had planned to use a 555 timer but ended up with a simpler solution with a power transistor.

I also built a light sensitive switch so the Panasonic head unit would dim when it was dark, not when I had lights on

An hour is quite a long time. Why would you want it on for an hour?

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not sure I'm up to your electronic level though! The reasons for an hour include: 1) previously had cars where that was the default 2) sitting by the seaside having a picnic in the car! Any time greater than 20 minutes would do.

On both my 997 and 987 I just push the volume control and the radio comes on without the ignition. It does have to be turned off in the same manner.
