Boxster (987) 2.7 Sport Edition Front Disc and Pads Replacement

First post so I hope I get it right! After having both front tyres replaced, I noticed the Front Discs and Pads appear worn. Does anyone know the minimum thickness the Discs can be before they need replacing? Has anyone fitted non Original Porsche Discs and Pads? No intention of Track Day driving just normal road use.

Thanks [:)]

Welcome to the post Paul.

I believe that for a Boxster 987/2.7 the front/rear brake disc thickness should be a minimum of 22mm and 18mm respectively, but check for cracking and corrosion too.

Don't forget to replace the pads if you're changing the discs.

I'm afraid that I can't make any recommendations for non-OE discs but you might like to try someone like Porscheshop as a first stop.

If you join the Club you'll get 10% discount on parts from the OPCs.

Good luck..!

Thanks Jeff for the info. I am actually a Member of the Club but for some reason it shows me as a "guest", I have emailed them about this.

I intend to change the Discs, Pads, sensors and squeal pads, so thanks for the tip regarding Porschshop. I've researched the job on line and it seems pretty straight forward (I'm a Mech Engineer as well!)

Just to add Paul, I've noticed that Porscheshop give a 5% to 10% discount to PCGB Members on most products, so worthwhile asking if you're going there.

Hope the disc/pad change goes well.

Jeff

Sebro were original suppliers to Porsche for the 986 , the 986 3.2 uses the same disc as the 987 so id have no hesitation suggesting sebro for a 2.7. Try carparts4less or one of the many other online parts specilists. You can get discs for around 60 pounds each at the front and about 80 for the rear.
