Our spy photographers have snapped confirmation that a cabriolet version of the stunning new Audi TT-RS is under development in Germany.

These latest pictures of the TT-RS Roadster come just days after we brought you these images of Ingolstadt's blistering TT-RS coupe running hot laps of the Nurburgring.

Both models are due to launch early in 2010, with prices starting at around £45,000 for the coupe.

The TT-RS Roadster is meant to be the ultimate TT, and will use the same engine as its coupe counterpart - a 2.5-litre turbocharged direct-injection five cylinder motor that sources in Audi claim is packing 343bhp.

The roadster will be fitted with Quattro four-wheel drive, and the body will be strengthened to make sure it delivers the dynamic qualities necessary in an RS model. Insiders reveal that keeping the high-performance TT's weight down is also a big priority for Audi engineers.

To aid handling, the standard TT's magnetic dampers could be binned in favour of more performance-orientated alternatives - and carbon ceramic brakes are likely to be on the options list.

Our sources suggest the TT-RS coupe will be able to dismiss 0-62mph in under five seconds, and the Roadster should offer near-identical performance, along with a limited 155mph top speed.

I'm sure that technically, it will be very impressive. Cant say I'm that taken with how it looks though.

How about the looks and sounds of another one of the Porsche Groups new products about to hit the streets shortly [8D]

That 4.2-litre has an unmistakable deep thunderous rumble whose sound resonates across plains in search of an admiring ear. Well it found such an ear in our spy photographers who caught the car in full speeding glory being followed around by other Porsche Group products like that orange Lambo and Cayenne Turbo. The R8 Spider, apart from its retractable soft top, is mechanically similar to its coupe sibling. Notice the twin-clutch R-Tronic gearbox quickly going through its cogs as the R8 approaches corners. The 420hp (309kW) soundtrack does justice to its aggressive but toned-down look. We love the fact that there's virtually no hiding this monster beneath any type of camouflage, pointing towards an imminent public reveal, either in LA or Detroit.

Ahem... Well, that's an entirely different bucket of fish.
I have to say that I am most definitely taken! [8D]

A roadster version of the Audi TT RS will be available alongside the coupe when it goes on sale in the UK tomorrow.

It will be powered by the same 335bhp 2.5 litre five-pot engine as the TT RS coupe, and will get to 62mph in a claimed 4.7sec.

Both cars share similar specifications, so the roadster will get the coupe's four-wheel-drive quattro system, cross-drilled brakes and a suspension system upgraded over the standard TT.

The roadster's soft-top roof will retract in 12sec at speeds of up to 19mph. It also gets a rear wind deflector.

It will be on show for the first time at this year's Leipzig motor show, which starts on Saturday.

Prices will start from £1900 more than the £42,980 coupe.
