Boxster brake problem.

Hi,I'm a new member to the club and have enjoyed 6 months with my boxster s (981) on a 62 plate.i went for a drive yesterday and all was well for about 50 miles and then I noticed that when I braked the pedal felt harder than usual,I still had braking power but when driving it felt like the handbrake was applied.when I came to a stop I pumped the pedal and then pressed hard at standstill and it felt ok again but everytime I braked the same thing.i got home with the car and the wheels and disks weren't unduly hot and no smell,I took the car out about an hour later and everything fine.Just wondered if anyone had a similar problem. The care still has 18 months Porsche warranty to run and has only covered 18,000 miles.

As the car is still under warranty a quick visit to the OPC seems in order if only to put your mind at rest.

I had similar experience when I had the heating on full blast. It was a faulty bush on the brake pedal assembly that got too tight when hot. Easy fix for dealers if that's your problem.

Hi,thanks for that advice, yes I've just been reading about these bushes on another site.i'll book it in to Porsche dealership. Cheers.

The other characteristic for me was when I let my foot off the brake the brake lights did not immediately extinguish - particularly noticeable at night! There was a short delay that wasn't there before/normally of about 1 second. Don't know why Porsche didn't do a recall for this as it appears it was quite common for the period of our cars (mine was a 13 plate). They used different bushes for later manufacturing.

Just an update, took the car into Porsche Wilmslow and they checked the car out and took it for a test drive and yes it was the bush on the brake pedal that was the problem, picking the car up tomorrow, pleased they found the problem and thank you to those who contributed on the forum.Cheers.
