Boxster calipers

I went to a breakers yard today looking for a bit for my megane and happened across a 2002 boxster S ,It had a nice set of big red brembo calipers and drilled discs still on it and i was wondering if the can be made to fit my 88 turbo,im aware that they bolt on differently but other than that i have no idea !!!

You can get them to fit. With an '88 turbo you might even get away with caliper brackets as well. The only thing is that the centre location hole in the disk is a larger diameter than on our 944's so you will need some sort of location ring as I wouldn't trust the bolt holes to centre the disk accurately enough to get the concentricity of the disk on the hub within tolerance. I believe these rings are available but I never established where from - I think there is a place in Finland makes the brackets you need for Boxster/996 brake converstions. I was thinking about this type of conversion before I took the plunge with the big blacks.

Forgot to add that my 88 turbo is an early model so has the same size brakes allround if that makes a difference, also whats the going rate for a set of 4 calipers with discs in looked in as new mint condition ??

Ah, then you'll need caliper brackets as well then. I guess a typical ebay cost for the calipers is somewhere in the region of £250 per pair so £500 for the complete set, not sure about disks but if you are fitting new pads then it might be worth having them skimmed.

Come to think of it if you are doing the rears you will need to check the internal dia of the rear brake disk bells to see if they are compatable with your handrake shoes. A guy who fitted GT3 Mk 2 brakes all round on his 944 had to modify the handbrake mechanism somehow as the rear disk bells were a larger diameter. I've definately seen 944 to Boxster brake conversion kits around but can't recall where so if you browse around you should be able to find somewhere to buy the conversion kit. Sorry I can't give you any links to websites or anything but since i've fitted my big blacks i've put it all out of mind.
