Todays Autocar 0-100-0mph Test Results

Sign of the times and the 0-100-0 test showed the Boxster is finally getting whooped by the new younger competition.

Shame Porsche are so relunctant to let there Roadster have it's head still [:mad:]

TVR T350 0-100mph 9.95 secs back to zero 14.00 seconds

VX220 Turbo 11.14:: 15.75

Z4 Alpina 12.00:: 16.65

Elise 111R 12.33:: 16.80

Boxster"S" 13.00:: 17.65

You could argue that this isn't necessarilly a like for like test though.

i.e. TVR weighs in at about an ounce
Vauxhall - has a turbo
Z4 has been Aplina'd
Elise - don't know
Boxster - off the shelf straight 6, no tweaks or added gizmos.

When I replace mine next year the Porsche will still be the top of my list, regardless.

It's not a real test of competitors - where's the standard Z4, S2000, TT V6 etc...however it still backs up my point in the other thread that the boxster needs to be getting more than 10bhp on the next "upgrade", being a Porsche it should really be devastating the competition.

That Alpina Z4 though is £38330, with full leather, big wheels , metallic etc etc etc[:eek:]

But you're right the VX220 has trick tyres (Yokohama Advans), and is truly impractical for the golfers amongst us (Elise - don't even think about it, no room for the golfballs, never mind the clubs !)

Audi TT 3.2DSG was in the fats coupe class - or is that not so fast coupe class - 21.28s [:D]

Oh and the Boxster is getting more than 10 bhp upgrade - its getting pull out doorhandles !

Rob
what surprised me a bit was the 100 - 0 times as I expected the Porsche braking to be superior but it only "beat" the Beemer[&o]
TVR 350T 3.99 sec (1186kg)
VX220 Sprint 4.17 sec (930kg)
Alpina R'ster 4.39 sec (1320kg)
Elise 111R 4.09 sec (860kg)
Boxster S 4.22 (1386kg)
I guess it must be the weight [&o]
still, lighter wheels for the new model!

[:eek:]Andy I would guess it's also a case of Porsche not keeping pace with the competition [:mad:] Lets face it until the next generation Boxster officially hits the tarmac we won't know the true state of the polls. All the serious competitors have their next generation cars out there and Porsche are yet to show their hand. I hope the wait is going to be worth it [:-]

Rob
hope it's worth the wait - well as you know I have the 550 on order [8D] was expecting to find out today dates of build/delivery but nothing on the system; still if the rumours of an extra 10bhp are correct I will look forward to the extra 4 bhp over the 550 [&o]

[8D] Andy what if Porsche have studied recent power output for the competition and they decide to really push the boat out and give MY03 10bhp over the 550 Spyder [:eek:][:eek:] Scary thought or what! all that power in the cheapo upstart Porsche :ROFLMAO:

Rob
no no no, that will be saved for the 987 Anniversary Ltd Edition [:D][:D]
Andy

Andy you are quite right and I bet the 987 Anniversary Edition will come out way before the original did :ROFLMAO: Maybe wise to get your deposit in before those Speculators [:mad:]
