Has anyone submitted a letter of intent to buy a new Boxster Coupe yet? According to my OPC they have recieved quite a number already.

Paul,

I submitted a £1000 deposit about 4 weeks ago with my OPC, but I bet you I am still not number one on the list?

Excuse me for being a bit thick but why on earth would or should you even have had to part with a £1000.00 deposit on a car that in official Porsche speak probably doesn't even exist! Surely a letter of intent from you and a confirmation by your OPC would have been good enough for now.

One concern would be what happens to the £1000.00 should the OPC go out of business before delivering.

I agree.

This USED to be the way things were done, but I understood that last year the policy changed - and a Letter of Intent was the way to get your name on the "waiting list" now. Certainly that is what my OPC wanted when I said I wanted to put a deposit on the next model Boxster.

Which OPC was this?

I am keen on the Coupe but a couple of years is a long time to wait. Other manufacturers are getting close to Porsche Boxster quality and reliability and offering cars for 10K less. I will wait and see what other cars are out there before ordering the Coupe.

My personal opinion is that Porsche will have a much tougher fight on their hands from other makes over the next couple of years. They've had it very easy for the last seven years. The Boxster is still the best roadster on the market at present but I think that will change soon. Just my opinion of course! And controversial to boot! Unless the new models are significantly improved...

I'd chase them up if I was you. I spoke to my local OPC by telephone, then backed that up with an e-mail, to which I have had confirmation of receipt.

I have written a letter of intent but have not had a reply
Is this normal procedure or perhaps "an administrative glich"?
Andrew

Hi Andy .. Normal "Not Hot To Trot" laid back highly trained Sales Person!! :ROFLMAO: I think you will have to try harder :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:and write to Sales Manager @ the OPC again...Good Luck

Do we have a 'final' price on the coupe yet? Autocar (August) were punting round a price of £29,000 (ho ho!).

Did look very nice though.

having a Hard top on my Boxster i don't really see the advantage to buying a coupe as with the option of the hard top i feel im getting two cars for the price of one.. and boy does the boxster look good with the hard top on. un-like the MGf my neighbour owns

:ROFLMAO:How long did it take to get your roof off this fab sunny mild for January weekend? See all the fun you just missed with your tin top in situ still [;)]

The hood on the Boxster is so good (now even better with glass back window) I can't see the reason for the hardtop unless you don't have a garage or want a bit more security from thieving low lives.

i haven't driven a new boxster (with glass window) yet is the insulation and noise level also improved.?

does the glass window come with heated glass?

Helen: yes and yes. As you probably know, I have a MY03. The roof lining is improved (much thicker with an additional soft layer) and the glass rear window is heated. A colleague at work has an 'X' reg Boxster and I went for a drive with him in his car. There is a fair difference in noise levels. I was contemplating a hard top but really cannot see the need if you have a MY03 upwards. My test drive was also in a pre-MY03 car and the cabin noise seemed a bit louder in that compared to the car I eventually got.

If you know someone with a newer model car then try to go for a ride and see if you can hear the difference in soundproofing. I think it makes a big difference. I would be interested to hear comments from other members.

Helen when you next visit your OPC or collect your fab GT3 test drive the demonstrator or better still get them to loan you it for a few days.

Insulation is much much better, noise levels excellent and of course it's heated.

All in all IMO it makes the Hard Top a bit redundant but I am a topless freak[8D]
