Boxster Facelift

Following the birth of my second child I sold my 997 and ordered a Cayenne GTS. I now also need a 2nd car, having previously owned a boxster S I have been looking out for a good one ex demo. Due to the near to new cost of ex demos I am now thinking about taking the plunge and buy a new Boxster 2.7. I now need to try and find out about any major Boxster facelifts round the corner, I understand the Cayman is being updated later this year, if I was to order the car in late Feb I would hope that it would be built in about 5 months and it would therefore be a MY08.
My concern is that they might upgrade the engine capacity from the current 2.7 on a MY09 car.

Advise greatly appreciated

A Boxster/Cayman facelift and dfi, etc, would seem likely for 2009(ish).

However, for the price of a new, optioned up, 2.7, I'd be looking for a late, nicely spec'd, low mileage, 987 3.2/3.4'S'.

According to what we were told at a workers conference by Porsche, the 997 is due a facelift first, then the Boxster/Cayman.

One or other may be 1/2 model year launches though (spring), with the other in Sept as usual.

The inside line on Rennteam suggests 997,987 and Cayman facelifts for 09MY, so Sept 08 build onwards. Still debate on whether the dfi engines will appear, more likely than not, but paddle gearshift still a long way off.

Given the residuals slide of late, find yourself a 6-12 months old one private - you'll save £10k

Is there such a thing as a good ex demo?

Good as in thrashed within an inch of its life from stone cold on a regular basis but not good as in driven with respect and mechanical feeling. Apart from which the OPC's seem to think these cars are like rocking horse poo and worth almost as much as a brand spanking new unmolested ones.

I was told that late Spring time we would see face lifted 997 and September / MY09 Boxster - Cayman

In the meantime I shall continue to enjoy my mint 3.2 987 [8D]

The model year changes in sep/oct so if you order now you would get a MY08 cay, ordering after July will probably get you a MY09 car.
