Our GTS is due for delivery in a few weeks, therefore looking for insurance quotes.. it seems the GTS is not on the insurance book, so they quotes are *2 the cost of our current Boxster S ie 450 quid ish up to 900 quid ish..

Did the Spyder guys have this problem ? How long before the Spyder was a "normal" car on the insurance tier books ? Did insurance companies refund as they got a better grading of the car .. Has any other Porsche GTS variant car had this problem. (Even Porsche insurance could not help)

Thanks

Gt to the Compare sites - I have my Spyder insured for a smidgen over £200.00[;)]

Sorry was not clear .. I get that the Spyder is now quotable via the compare website etc

Upon its original release in the UK did the FIRST Spyder guys have this problem ? ie the Spyder was not a "listed" car on the lists the insurers use when first released ?

If so how long before the Spyder was a "normal" car on the insurance tier books ?

Graeme,

I think that you'll have to wait until the GTS is actually in the showrooms next month before the car is posted on the insurer's list. Have you tried contacting Porsche Insurance (0845 600 6502)?

Re Porsche Insurance - yes we did Jeff.. They also dont have it on their lists

Porsche Calcot have confirmed our car arrived at Emden on the 18th so are expecting it in the UK sometime next week.. looks like we may be one of the first GTS's in the UK

Graeme, there was a taxed (and insured?) Cayman GTS at the PEC Silverstone when I was there a couple of weeks ago but it was probably covered by their corporate policy. I'd be surprised if it's not in the same group as the Boxster/Cayman S.

Hope you enjoy the car and be sure to keep us posted on your inital impressions.

Jeff

I had one of the first Spyders but they had been out a couple of months by the time I took delivery in May 2010. Insured through Porsche insurance with no problem.

Sorry - that doesn't help you does it!

Enjoy the GTS, I'm sure it will be a great car for you.

we dropped by Porsche today to finalise payments etc .. GTS is on the boat and will be here next week and Porsche Calcot are planning our pick up next Saturday ...

will upload pics as soon as we have her :)

Ohh and nearly traded in my RS6 for the White Panemara GTS Calcot has on the shop floor .. however they think they sold it it Porsche Cambridge .. lets ee if they call me back
