Boxster GTS

redone

I'm shortly to be selling my lovely 997C2S Gen2 Cab for a Boxster GTS (Riviera Blue, black wheels) which should arrive in Sept/Oct.
Has anyone out there already have a GTS and what do they think of it?
Be keen to know...
Shaun

I drove one in Leipzig last month - Absolutely phenomenal car: Balance, power, exhaust note, build - Knocks the spots off a 997. [:D]

Thanks Adam, I have had a session at the Silverstone centre with a GTS and that convinced me to go for it...as well as the Riviera Blue...a bit left field colour choice, but can't face yet another black/silver/grey car...
Cheers,
Shaun

We got one of the first in the UK, so early not even Porsche Insurance themselves had it listed as a car. They are a supurb car, easily the best Boxster we have had (this one will be our 6th) . Drive is lovely, PSE is just a complete giggle and always puts a grin on my face. Drive it in Sports plus and have a UK B road to "play with" and you will be in Posche driving heaven. Get some pics up when it arrives

We got Porsche to add the GTS door logos after this pic was taken

Many thanks for the reply and pic, looks cool. My dealer knew I was unsure so sent me on the Silverstone trial and that convinced me. I love my 997C2S Cab, but i came back grinning from ear to ear after my test...so ordered one. As I said, Riviera Blue with black wheels...:) Sept/oct delivery.
Cheers,
Shaun

We came out of a much loved 987 S which was to us the perfect spec and we had "avoided" the 981 since its launch as we knew we would be tempted, however we did a F type drive and realised we just loved the Boxster to much went and spoke to Calcot re a change .. did a test drive of 981 and simply loved it .. Calcot then a week later played their "joker card" and invited us back for a second test drive and had brought one of their Silverstone drivers down .. after a good few hours of a high spec 981S and "push it .. go one push it" test drive on some great B roads we ordered a 981 S, then as we all do a few weeks later we confirmed the final spec and locked it in on a Tuesday. However on Wednesday they announced the GTS.. luckily (after hours on the phone) Porsche folded our final spec into a GTS slot and (we saved about 2K on the spec due to how the GTS is spec'd versus the S) a few months later we had the GTS

Our very first 986 was one of the first ones in to the country and replaced an 4 month old MGF F VVC which we had bought to await the Boxster , but we got a huge move up on the slots, we lost loads of ££ on the MGF , but I remember driving that 986 out of calcot and being a early Boxster owner and loved it .. only ever feeling which was better was driving that GTS out of Calcot :)

Congratulation, I am sure you will not be disappointed in your choice. I purchased our Sapphire Blue metallic with Black hood and leather Agate Grey interior GTS on 1st September 2014, after a number of Boxster 'S' vehicles. It is just as enjoyable as ever, even more so having reverted back to a Manual gearbox from previous PDK / Tiptronic etc. and I am almost 77 years of age.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for your reply. The Sapphire Blue is a nice colour for sure. Interesting you opted for a manual, as I have too. I have had two Audi TT's with their DSG gearbox's and became bored of them very quickly.
I'm looking forward to seeing mine, I saw a Cayman in the Riviera Blue at the weekend and thought how bold it looked. Certainly a Marmite colour!

Best,
Shaun

In simple terms Do it.
I took delivery of mine back in December.
Having owned a 986 987 981 and now 981 GTS all from new I can say they were all fun and all good but the GTS just makes me want to get up in the night , find a tunnel , engadge Sports plus Mode and floor the throttle.
I promise you will have a smile .
Not even the mighty 911 sounds as good .
