Boxster Info...

Im new to this site and was wondering if people could point me the right direction!

Im looking to buy a Boxster, ive heard a few scare stores about early cars etc so would just like to know if there is any sort of buyers guide I could look at!

I'll be looking for either a 2.7 or 3.2s, from what ive read on here up to now i would say i would defo want a car with glass rear screen.. couldn't be bothered with having to make sure the roof was seated properly every time!

At the moment i own a 2003 Vauxhall VX220.. even though the roof is leak free its still abit of pain having to get out to remove and stow in the boot! Hence i want a hassle free roof!

I'll probably be looking to pay around £20k but would consider anything mint around that figure!

So any web sites / car sales places i can check out some good examples..

Firstly, good luck in your quest to find a Boxster.

If you're sure that you want a glass panelled roof then you're looking at a face-lift model which start on a '52 plate. With that in mind the choices are:

OPC, but I don't think for a minute you'd get one at that price. It's more like 25k+ for 2.7 and in excess of 30 for a 3.2

An Independent, may get you what you're looking for but again I think the price you'd pay is more like 22-25k for a 2.7 but there seems to be a bit of a shortage of the 2.7 model at present. Plenty of 3.2, but the price is 25+ again.

Finally, private seller. I've just had a quick (I emphasise quick) search on TopMarques and the cheapest I spotted was a '53 @ 23,500. That was a narrow search in a limited area so there may be more out there, but it did look like there was a shortage of face-lift 2.7's. There's hundreds of pre-face lift cars 2.7 and 3.2 for the money you've indicated. A difficult choice.

Of course this depends on where you are in the country.
