Boxster Insurance

Anyone had some very competitive insurance quote lately?
I had my renewal in from Aviva which has went up quite a bit from last year, tried a few companies this morning-cheapest for my 2.5 1998 Boxster, garaged, 5,000 miles per year, 17y ncb, Rac member, Porsche Club member; Academy £286 Protected NCB, £300, or Classic Insurance from Manning £293 £100 excess and will do agreed value.

I renewed with PCGB/Aviva for £660 - just a tad over last year's price. NFU was over £1000. Admiral was cheaper but I don't think you'd get much of a payout from them.

We insured our 987 2.7 tiptronic in my girlfriends name, she's 23, I'm 25, we both have no accidents, claims, points, etc and we got it for £817 on an Admiral Multicar policy. That's about £150 less than we paid last year. Not too bad I thought.

Used Admiral for the third year for my Boxster S 2001 £680 along with my Laguna and the good lady's BMW 1 series [:)]

I worry about Admiral, I've posted this before:
"All those with Admiral etc - you might want to check what is covered. When we called Admiral, they happily gave a quote, but then we dug around and found that any "extras" (that is ANY Porsche options) were charged extra - for each option. These would not be reimbursed in the event of a claim, only the value of a base car. The extra cost for the options was to "cover the increased risk of it being stolen because you have made the car more attractive to thieves". If you havent declared all the options, then are you really covered? If Admiral have changed this stance then it would be great!"
So far no-one has posted that Admiral have changed this "policy". I'd love to be reassured! Having said that I've not heard anyone be refused a claim, but if the above still holds it can't be long...

I just insured the Boxster on a multi-car policy with Admiral and specifically asked the question about 'options'… I was assured by the representative that they were all covered as long as they were factory fit… I asked whether I needed to declare each individual option but was assured they were covered based on the value of the car I had provided (which obviously forms the basis of the quote that they provide)… Hope this helps!

Brilliant! They wanted to charge us extra for alloy wheels... "They are factory fit - you can't buy it without" "I have to charge you for alloy wheels" Great to hear that's changed [:)]
