Boxster Insurance

Hi,

I have recently re-joined PCGB after several years absence (my previous car was a 944 Turbo) and I am now looking to purchase a low mileage early 987 Boxster S.[:D]

I want to use the Porsche as a 2nd car with mileage limited to 6K miles/year and to use my other main (diesel) car to clock up the other 25K business miles/year.

Any advice on what the most cost effective insurance options would be to insure the Boxster as a 2nd car?.

Is a family/mini-fleet policy a good option for me?

Can you recommend any insurance companies and give any indication of typical annual premiums I could expect to pay?

Thanks,

Adrian Smith

I would suggest you go compare the meerkats for each car individually and then ring at least one fleet policy provider. Go from there. Unless there's an insurance expert on this forum who can help you? D

Plenty of posts on the forum re this issue, obviously dependant on age & postcode lottery...... I use ClassicLine for my 996 C4S, limited mileage (5k), guaranteed valuaton of vehicle, circa £400 I'm sure you'll get other recommendations hth Paul

Lots of stories in thread http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=584141 "997 (inc Turbo)/997 Club Members only/997 FAQ /car insurance" Good luck

Hi, I just renewed mine with Hastings direct, £512, sdp and travel to work, 6 points, full ncb, £450xs. Also got £42.50 quidco.

Hi. Bought my first Porsche in late August (Boxster S). Have to say I was a bit green/daft?????....... Did not give a thought about insurance. I went to my insurer and got a quote of over £1500 []. So I cancelled it and went else where. I was not a member of this Forum and ended up getting it from Sheilas Wheels. for £547. (I have 3 points for speeding) This is with a 6000 mile usage? I thought this was OK at the time but think I could have done better, having read the info on the Forum. Look around there are big differences. [:)]

Just bought my first Porsche. 2011 Boxter. Direct Line, fully comp was £378. I am 40, 9 years NCD. Seemed very good value!

Thanks 'rigster2' - I am already insured with Direct Line (for my main car) but when I last contacted them, they were not able to quote me for a multi-car policy.

Hi, I have a limited mileage policy for up to 3000 miles per year at £550 with Aviva on my 2002 Boxster S. Anyone know how the insurer can tell if you actually covered 4000 miles, or any level of excess mileage? I'm not sure they can...?

Hi Jonathan - Thanks for the Aviva information. Not sure if insurance companies have access to mileage records today but certainly these figures are recorded 'electronically' as part of the annual MOT (for cars 3 years and over). Therefore very easy to calculate annual mileage once access to the data is provided.

I went with Saga this year, good introductory rate and unlimited European travel.
