Its that time again to renew the Boxters insurance so thought I would check a couple of options.
Have used Porsche Insurance for the first two years of ownership so thought I would check out Lockton Insurers who are "The One and Only Porsche Club GB Insurance Scheme"
Having picked myself up of the floor it looks like Porsche Insurance are a very very clear winner!!
They say it is good to shop around and I would agree with that.
Anyone any similar experiences of such wide variances?

I am with Lockton and they were the best deal last year(didn't try Porsche however). But as we all know a year is a long time in the insurance game. I'll be trying Porsche next time though.

I've been with Porsche Insurance (Marsh) for years but just recently, the customer service has dropped off a cliff - thank God I haven't had to make a claim.

I tried to use Porsche Club GB Insurance but they refused to quote as a a did to many miles in a year (12,000). Said they would work out a quote on their normal motor policy and phone me back. Been three days now. Got a really good price and cover from M&S Insurance.

Okay, obviously any quote will vary depending on personal circumstances. Boxster 981 2.7 Registered March 2013 - 6,000 Miles per annum. Both my wife and I on the policy, both over 50 years of age with no driving convictions and maximum no claims discount. Fully Comprehensive Insurance, protected no claims, Social, domestic and pleasure with Class 1 Business use. Porsche Insurance (Marsh) - £284 year (£430 excess) Lockton (Porsche Club GB Insurance) - £871 year (£500 excess)

Mmmm I'm with Lockton 2004 986 3.2 Anniversary 5000 miles, 50 years me & the bread knife, Protected no claims, £284 including European Breakdown & Agreed Valuation etc etc To be fair it beat all others hands down although I didn't try Porsche insurance.

I have always found the so called Performance Car Specialists to be very expensive and never ended up placing any business with them. I always use the comparison sites every year. Last renewal cost me £160. Self and wife both over 50, 3000 miles per annum on Boxster Spyder. (£850 excess though which you might find a bit high!)

Admiral £415 Fully comp 1200 + miles per year Class 1 business use Wife also on policy protected no claims £60 excess - central Birmingham (Ladywood []) 2009 Boxter 2.9

Surprisingly, my test this year revealed Direct Line to be substantially the cheapest for my 2013 981. Lockton were again miles out, along with other "specialists". The comparison sites produced a litany of companies and brokers I had never heard of. DL were initially about half my long-standing Porsche Insurance Services renewal (Marsh/Aviva/VW Financial Services and no doubt others getting a cut). However, by the time I had evened out DL's default voluntary excess, added courtesy car, foreign travel etc and negotiated with Porsche, there was still a gap of about £70. What killed DL for me though was that when I entered my car reg on their quote site it came up as a Peugeot, which (even after a formal complaint) they couldn't satisfactorily explain, other than to tell me that their systems were old and crap. As DL were on several occasions unable to retrieve my quote due to their admitted systems problems, I decided that all this was likely to end badly if I had to claim, so stayed with Porsche Insurance Services.

2000 MY Boxster 3.2S, 6000+ miles pa, over 60, protected NCB, agreed value, recovery etc., wife to drive and £100 excess from Hastings on multi-car policy £190. Not bad me thinks![:D] John

We came up with £185 on the comparison web sites also with Hastings, rightly or wrongly I am not keen on using these yet as the car is still fairly new and I prefer to stick with the Porsche approved insurers.

I've used Hastings the last 2 years on our John Cooper Works they were the best price and have been quick to respond on requests but at the moment touch wood not had to claim.

Another year on and Porsche Insurance (Marsh) are still unbeatable in their quote with Lockton quoting over twice as much!!! Took an age to get Lockton to respond to telephone messages and their web site is a waste of time as it does not produce a quote and fails to get them to contact you back, only got a call back from them when Porsche Club Head Office sent them a message to contact me.
