I was just comparing the MY05 987 sales brochure to the MY06 and the only difference (addition) is the following, all extra-cost options:
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM)
  • 5-mm spacers
  • Porsche Vehicle Tracking System fixture
  • Footrest in sports look
  • Steering column casing in leather
...which I assume can all be retrofitted to MY05; so for MY07, I predict a bigger change as follows:

Boxster S moving up very close to the current Cayman S spec i.e. 3.4cc, Variocam Plus, etc and Cayman S upped to 3.6cc.

The Boxster getting a 3.2 and Variocam Plus; the tricky one will be the Cayman (non S); price difference between S and non-S Porsches have always been around 5K-6K so that would make Cayman the same price as a Boxster S? Well, I reckon it will be placed (price and spec-wise) between Boxster and Boxster S with a 3.2 engine.

Open to the floor...

interesting, but what happens to the 997 bearing in mind the 'rule' relating to a set hierarchy of performance and retail price??
PS body coloured grills

I think MY07 the Cayman S and the Cayman will remain exactly as the original launch cars apart from one or two screws here and there [:D] and some desperately needed new colours inside and out.

The Boxster "S" I can see getting another 8bhp, keeping it below Cayman S, and this will be achieved via Variocam Plus and playing with ECU. Some new alloys, shock horror some new colours inside & out plus the usual one or two new screws [:D] should be enough to keep the Boxster ahead of the pack and the owners happy.

The 2.7 may become 2.8 or 2.9 even, + 10bhp and Variocam Plus, and new alloys which should be enough to keep it below the base Cayman but once again ahead of the competition.

Some more extras for extra ca$h and maybe one or two current extras being made standard kit for eg Wind Deflector etc and hopefully 3 Years Warranty from day one![&o]

As ever evolution not revolution :ROFLMAO:

Well, the 997 C2S is already 3.8cc, so MY07 C2 will move to the 3.8cc territory... I assume prices will pretty much remain the same... probably go up by a grand at most.

Latest word from local OPC (obviously not gospel) is that base Cayman will have 2.8 late MY2007, i.e. first quarter 2008.

While the Boxster range will be aligned with the Cayman for MY2007 (end 2008), base Boxster becoming a 2.8 and S having the Cayman's 3.4. Though wouldn't put it past Porsche de-tuning the Boxster variants.

[;)] Heard the same story as you Mark but no mention of de-tuning [&o] Having driven the Coxster S last weekend it didn't feel any quicker than my 987 S but then again 5.4 to 62mph against 5.5 or 50-75mph 6.6 against 6.8 isn't shatteringly different or easy to detect :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

If they de-tuned the Boxster 3.4 it would end up slower than the 3.2 [:D]
