Boxster on Top Gear this Sunday Night

As part of my work I sometimes find myself in TV studios and I had to got to the Top Gear Studio on Wednesday whilst filming was taking place. Unfortunately I wasn't there for the whole day which is a shame as there were two Boxsters in the studio, a 986 and the 987. both in Seal Grey
I can only assume that there was some sort of comparison planned for this Sunday's show. Anyway a "heads up for you guys".

Oh and Damion Hill is the Star in a reasonably priced car.

Do I get a prize for guessing JC wil mention something about Porsche having the laziest designers.......Again.

The originality of his work never ends.

[:D] Do I get one if he talks about the new 987 Boxster whilst studying the old one :ROFLMAO:

Perhaps the laziness of Porsche's designers is surpassed only by the laziness of JC's scriptwriter? [;)]

Of course, some might say that if you get it right first time, put your effort somewhere else instead. [:)]

The fact that the Boxster shape is obviously inspired by earlier porsches like the 550 Spyder, seems to be lost on Mr Clarkson and his diminutive sidekick. The Spyder was a legendary design, where yes, in profile, the front and the back ends are similarly curved. Most people think this is beautiful and original, and I'm sure most people also think that the Boxster is 'original' and beautiful for similar reasons. Either the muppets at Top Gear are trying to deliberately provoke or they are just muppets. Probably a combination of the two, they do seem to genuinely believe that boxsters are for people who can't afford 911's. What's the bet that this statement will be made (again)[8|].

I am amazed that Clarkson is still in a job after his dreadful adlib faux pas last week

The one where he called the young Asian guy a car thief? In fairness, I reckon JC was taking a crack at his age but certainly a risky one for prime-time TV, the young lad was a bit taken aback

[&o] I actually thought Clarkson was more so once the penny dropped and he realised what a Basil Faulty type slur he had just made and apparently got away with [;)]

Just checked the beeb website and here's what's on this weekends show

As I said I didn't stay to the end of filming but Damion Hill was there and I watched his lap so I suppose it could be used in another edition. When interviewed he claims he drives around in an Audi A3 but he followed me out of the airfield in a DB9! (nice to be able to say Damion Hill was behind me!).

I wished I could have stayed longer now so I could have seen what they were reporting regarding the Boxsters. Also in the studio was some sort of MPV that James May reviewed, a DB5, E type, Citroen C6, SLK and a Massarati. (Stig drove the E.type and DB5)

The Stig is not there during the studio recording. Unfortunately I can't say who it is.
Sorry!

This is an old one. The Stig has been many people on TG . Way back when, it was Perry Mcarthy (I chatted to him @ an event recently and he totally confirmed this) He then went on to confirm that they changed the "stig" because of racing commitments that affect each driver. By hiding his image, they allow the program makers the ultimate in flexibility

I remember reading/seeing a story that the Stig was a Formula 1 driver who had qualifed for 2 races; failed to arrive in time for one and then had an engine failure/blew up very early in his second race. Don't know if it was true but he certainly makes the most of the cars he tests; and makes up for some of the more asinine comments made by the presenters. I really would hate to buy a used car upon which he had had a go and, epecially the tyres, even if they were not Michelins.
Roll on Sunday and the next programme...unless I am out in the car with the top down; then to hell with TV - I can always catch the repeat.
