Boxster only track day 26th April 2008

Why is it always planned when I am unable to come along Mark? I was looking forward to coming along next year. AGH! Maybe next year!

No idea Iain [&o].
As it's become a regular thing now (due to the success of the previous ones) I wasn't even consulted this year - Porsche Club Motorsport just put it in the calendar [:D]

Anyone?!

Come on - people have booked - who are you? [:D]

I hear places are still available - if you are thinking of doing this, book now [8D]

Alas regular no more it seems. [:(]

Due to poor take up this event is now open to all models. It must have been very bad to have to open it up this early.

I don't think it will be run again as a Boxster day.

Indeed,

I was informed just a couple of days ago that this has been opened up to other models now.
Despite a very encouraging inital rush of bookings it seems that there have not been many in the last few weeks, so to ensure the day goes ahead the club has opened it up to the rest of the membership.

As it was so popular over the last 2 years I am wondering if there is any particular reason that this has happened.

Is it that it is the same circuit again?
Is it that people have "done" a trackday now, and that is that particular itch scratched?
Or something else?

For me, distance is a factor in my decision not to book and the fact that it is the same circuit. I may well go to Snetterton in November.

Hi, Have been thinking of booking but having never done a track day before this would be my first - what do you guys do to prep your car before you go on the track? Was thinking I'd need to bring along a spare set of wheels/tyres and pads and swap them before going on the track - trouble is, this means I'd then have to bring the car on a trailer or have a mate follow me down in another car to carry all the bits!
Just wondered what the norm was and what others plan to do?
Cheers,

Cheers,

I'd just turn up with the car.

Unless you are a seasoned track day driver or a "would be/wanna be" racing driver you don't need to go to great lengths to have an enjoyable day.

You don't need spare wheels [:)] There is a tyre service at all PCGB trackdays if you did need tyres, but to be honest, unless you arrive with barely legal tyres then you are unlikely to have problems (especially with the Boxster - it is so well balanced tyre wear is negligible).

Pads would only be needed if again, you are near the end of the pad life. Having said that they are easy to change if you wanted to bring a spare set.

There will be an article about trackday preparation from Bryn Owen our tech assistant in the forthcoming Porsche Post (timed to arrive before the trackday!)

If it is your first trackday then this would be an ideal introduction. It was going to be all Boxsters, now will likely be mostly Boxsters, and it is a "sessioned" day, which means no more than 6 cars at a time on track - so no crowds [:)]

Give it a go - you can even hire the crash helmet if you haven't got one[8D]

Edit:
John beat me to it with a more to-the-point answer [:D]

Excellent - thanks.
That fills me with more confidence - I wasn't looking forward to setting up a complete track side pit lane!!
I need to make sure I have nothing else which clashes on the day but I'll probably book, cheers.
