Boxster Rattle

For a while now I have had a ratlling/clunking noise when parking/manoevering at low speeds. Car has been back twice and the issue is still not resolved. Went back again today and got a technician to actually listen to the noise I am referring too. Asides from the engine rattling on the mounts at low revs they can be of no extra help apart from speaking with Tech at HO on Tuesday to see if they have any related accounts of problems. If they don't then what?

No one else with a Boxster S on porsche-1.net has the same complaint so what the hells up with mine?

Hi Mojo
I had a similar problem with my 986S a while back, and in that case I believe it was something to do with the front suspension (bushes?), as it was particularly evident when passing over speed bumps at very low speed.
I believe there was a thread concerning this posted quite some time ago, so maybe it is still accessible to view.
I think my clunking was sorted out at service time (it was still under warranty) although they never actually told me what it was!
The rattle may well be loose heat shields (see my current thread 2100rpm rattle) which I understand is not uncommon in both 986 and 987 guise.
Hope this is of some help, and good luck![;)]

Thanks Rob. The heat shields were rewelded on the first vist back to OPC to resolve the issue. Popped into OPC Chiswick today and their technician thinks it may be the heat cat sheld that needs refixing.

Still waiting for Reading to come back to me with what tech at head office reckon.

Hi Mojo
I hope you get your problem sorted soon - see my thread 2100rpm rattle for update on my problem - at least the OPC seem committed to sorting it out. Once we know the cause/cure it might be useful to help sort your niggle out as well.
Cheers.

Car booked in for two days next week. The Workshop Manager thinks that it is clutch related and something to do with plates, fly wheels and springs. The whole lot has got to come out

Lets just hope its covered by warranty. [FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Do you park on uneven ground? and do you hear the noise when driving on an uneven road, if so lubricate the locating pins on the hood cover.
Open or close the roof just a small way, when the cover is up in the air you will see two lugs on the raised panel with two receptors on the body, a bit of grease or vaseline then open and close the roof a few times

Hey presto, the noise has gone
