Boxster S anniversary 550 spyder

Have had a dreadful time with my first Porsche ( a cayenne S - see thread "one month ago today in cayenne forum) and it goes back to the dealer on monday - Instead I'm getting a low mileage Boxster (and a Disco). The car has the standard sound system on it - recommendations for upgrades, and also advice re PSE / alternatives would be gratefully received..

I thought the 550 came with at least the sound pack? (or even Bose?)
The standard system is only the speakers in the dash-top.

Sorry to hear you've had a crappy time. I've had two boxsters - one with the sound pack and my current one with the Bose.

To be honest (call me a heathen) but I don't think there's a great deal of difference. I think you'll find the sound pack absolutely fine - it was certainly loud enough and clear enough in my opinion.

The Bose just throws in lots more bass.

Good luck with the new car!

I agree with heathen [;)]I have the Porsche upgrade on my 987 and I wasn't that impressed with the Bose for the extra ca$h required. On the other hand I do prefer listening to the engines sound track more than the stereo system :ROFLMAO:

Have the standard sound fitted to my 550 and the sound is poor infact I would say usless esp the radio side .I have a Skoda Octavia [dont tell everyone ][:D] and the sound pack in this is great .I prefer to listen to the sound of car exhaust .

Brian,

I thought you were trying to sell it? Rule one. Don't slag off the sound system. There might be a propective buyer reading this.

I had the BOSE in my 550 and besides the amplifier packing up on the day after delivery the sound was good in Porsche terms; ie better than the standard system and sound pack but IMO not as good as the Harman Kardon in my BMW nor as good as the BOSE in a previous Audi
as Robert says the best noise comes from the 6 cylinders behind you [:D]
all the best with the 550
