If you Boxster enthusiasts want to find out how they got on at Brands Hatch - up against all the other well developed Porsche club racing cars - you need to look at the 968 section under PCGB Championship for 2012.

I think a good film of the second race will soon be on U-tube from our driver's car (Ben Demetrio).

Hope you enjoy it.

Baz (Hartech)

turn your speakers up and really immerse yourself in the video, great viewing

........ if you listen carefully you can hear Ben's cheer when he finally takes the lead at 17m 10s ...........

Quite the best vicarious motor racing experience I've ever had, watching a Boxster work its way through a field of 911s. Is it all down to the driver, or something special behind the seats? I wish my Boxster would go like that!

A great victory, Ben!

As long as the machinery lasts, it is definitely what is in the seat rather that what is behind the seat! He just has the knack of keeping it on the limit longer than others.

............... short vid of the incident in Race 1 at Graham Hill bend first time round ....... the oil you see spilt from Kevin Harrisons 964 caused a few difficulties next time round !!

And the next ill informed person that tells me a Boxster is not " real Porsche" will be tied to a chair and made to watch that.......brilliant, well done

Sumpter out in front in Class 1 in his 964, Eacock racing away in Class 2 in his 968

the story continues at Oulton on 2nd June

So are Hartech running 550 986 anniversaries ? Closest power to a 987 without the weight penalties , but increased performance over the 986 S. Excellent driving , consistently quicker than the 993 through the bends, will be interesting to see how it fairs on a dry circuit.

The two blue/turquoise cars were 964's and the silver 911 was a 996's ....... a couple of white 968's did figure early on in this epic drive and the single white 993 was Mark Proctors who Ben took for the lead. (Neil, thx - text now corrected)

I was in that race (in my 968) and although there was some light rain, it was not enough to affect things much IMO laptimes were only no more than 1 second slower than I would of expected in the dry.

Mark Proctor drove a 993 didn't he?

I was down in the paddock picking up my trailer when the race started and I am fairly sure it was dry then? Must have started to drizzle part way through but it takes time to build up and by then the tyres would have heat in them. This seemed to be the problem in the morning as it was very cold as well as wet, certainly the 4 + 1/2 laps I was out didn't get any discernible amount of heat into the tyres.

Judging by the way the white 993 was twitching on virtually every bend and a few twitches from the boxster , plus the wipers being on in the video clip , I assumed the the track wasn't dry and possibly the boxster was given an edge. Not being a 911 fan , I didn't pay too much attention to the rear end of the cars he was chasing regarding 993 / 964 model type. Considering the weight differences between air cooled 993 and water cooled boxster , I guess this puts a stamp on the ability of the boxster as a circuit racer that has been previously overlooked by many. Its good to see a racing series with a more complete and diverse line up of Porsche models. Each model has its strengths and weaknesses , I will be following the progress of the boxsters in this series with new interest.
