Boxster S beeping after starting

Hi everyone.

I have recently bought a 2005 Boxster S 3.2 with just 20K miles. Everything seems fine except that after about 5 seconds from starting the car I get a loud beep followed a few seconds later by 3 more beeps which are repeated another 5 seconds later. There are no warning lights or messages. After this everything seems to work fine and there are no more beeps and no messages. Since everything else seems to be working correctly I am somewhat mystified.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

Thanks

Sorry I can't really help on this Andrew except to suggest that you ensure that everything is secure, ie open and close the front and rear boot lids and the hood several times as well as the windows, glovebox and centre console lid too. And make sure that the fuel filler flap is closed properly.

Have you checked the oil level?

Usually a double beep indicates a fault - a sensor isn't working - but you say that you're getting two tripple beeps, separated by 5 seconds after an initial single beep? If it becomes more of a problem you may have to get a diagnostic check at an OPC or reputable Indy.

Hope that's of some use.

Jeff

I think that the limit warning only beeps once Rodney, not three times as Andrew states. And he would keep getting beeped if he was in stop-start traffic.

Thanks for the information Jeff. The oil level checks out OK on the display but will make a check of all the door/bonnet/boot/filler cap sensors as I believe the car has been stood for a while. The previous owner did say that the battery has been changed so I am not sure if a full reset might be needed.

Just a thought Andrew but if the car's been standing for some time, are sure sure that the battery's still up to scratch despite it having been replaced?

As you say, perhaps a battery check and full reset are in order.

Sounds to me like the car may have a tracking device fitted? Mine has a Navtrak system which beeps similarly to this to remind you to disarm the pro-active system. It will still beep even if the system is in 'valet' mode ie. not being used / monitored. Any paperwork with the car to suggest something like this was installed? Just a thought..
