Boxster S brake disc corrosion

Guest

I recently left my "S" on the street for a couple of weeks in the foul weather. On next use the discs were heavily corroded and despite some heavy use to try to get them worn in again the front N/S disc remains grooved. Despite further use I'm still suffering from reduced braking performance and judder. Whilst a dusting of rust is not uncommon on being left this time I seem to have proper corrosion.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago and had all the discs replaced. The car does c. 12k miles of decent use a year so surely the discs shouldn't suffer from corrosion problems? I had no problems with my previous 2.5 litre car (with non-drilled discs), and never heard of the problem on any other modern cars.

Does anyone else suffer from this problem, and any ideas on how to fix it? Would new pads help wear the discs smooth again? I see Autofarm offer on-car skimming? Am I doing something wrong!

Cheers

John

John, I believe it is a very common complaint amongst boxster owners...the brake discs corrode very easily, especially the 'S' as the holes accelerate the process...it's not something you are doing wrong.
