Boxster S wheels

Need a bit of help here people.

Has anybody tried fitting boxster s wheels to a 3.2 before. I understand they need to have spacers fitted.

If so

1, are spacers safe to use?
2, I have calculated I need 25mm spacers for the front and a 35mm spacers for the rear is this correct?

wheels are front 8" and rear 9.5"

Any help would be appreciated

You need to know the offset as well (thet is the other number stamped the other side of the valve (it is in mm)

The offset is how far the mounting face of the wheel is off the center.

If you know the offset of the old wheels, and the new, you can work out if the wheels will fit straight off, or if you need spacers (or if they will fit at all).

You need to know the width of the wheel, and the offset for both old and new.
Spacers can help only if you need to move the wheel out towards the wheelarch if the offset is not large enough on the new wheels.

You need to make sure the inside rim is clear of any suspension/brake pipes etc, whilst ensuring the rim clears the caliper on the inside, and does not foul the wheelarch on the outer.
Ideally drawing out the various criteria will show you what you do/do not need.

Just call Jasmine (or any Porsche wheel retailer) and ask them. These guys will know the answer straight away and will offer to sell you the spacers you need. You will certainly need spacers as the Boxster wheels have much more offset than Fuchs and caliper clearance is not an issue as the Boxster wheel will fit over Boxster S brakes that are much bigger than 3.2 brakes. You should not have clearance problems either - if you get the spacers correct. You can fit 275 rear and 235 fronts if you get the offsets just right.

By my calcs you need a 30mm spacer for the front. A 7x16 Fuchs has a 23.3mm offset and your Boxster wheel has a 55mm offset. A 30mm spacer will make the wheel 1.7mm closer to the struts. A 25mm (or 1 inch) would also work well (actually better IMHO) and should remove any possibility of fouling the wheel arch - a problem that is sometimes apparent with the 7x16 Fuchs if you do not have much negative camber. On the rear, a 9x16 has a 10mm offset and an 8x16 has a 23.3 mm offset. Given your Boxster wheel starts at 50mm offset you need about 30mm of spacer- maybe 35mm - to bring it back to 15-20mm of offset. Please call the experts so you have someone to blame if I am wrong.
