Boxster / Spyder meet?

As posted elsewhere, PCGB is now holding a North Wales weekender with a Track Day at the Anglesey Circuit on Saturday 27th April and Porsches on the Prom at Llandudno on Sunday 28th April. There is lots of available local accommodation from reasonable to eye opening prices.

flat6 and I are going to do our best to recreate the fabulous "2 Spyders on the track at once" photo from Oulton Park last November but hopefully the weather will be bit warmer this time!

It seems our little Spyder thread has generated plenty of interest over recent months and hopefully we can build on this and get a good turn out - the perfect weekend for racers and polishers!

With a bit of luck, we can recreate something like this:

For those that haven't been on track before or anybody wary that track days are a bit "hardcore", please don't be! Porsche Club track days are run the very highest of standards and you will only be sharing the tarmac with your fellow club members in their pride and joy. You will not be competing with boy racers in hot hatchbacks trying to prove they are quicker than your Porsche, people will be attending to put smiles on their faces.

Think of the track as your favourite B road but with nothing coming the other way and marshalls posted at every corner to keep an extra eye out for you. There will be a detailed safety briefing beforehand, escorted "sighting laps" behind an instructor before you are allowed out on your own and strict rules regarding overtaking - on the straights only and with consent. You can enjoy the full performance of your car safely.

You will not wear out your brakes and tyres (unless you choose to do so - but drive like a nutter and an official will probably have a "quiet word" with you) and your car will get no more stone chips than you could pick up on the motorway. Let's face it, if there was any significant risk, myself and flat6 wouldn't be risking our Spyders!

I hope to see you there.

Well said Rob. I can second everything he says. I'd even go as far as to say that track surfaces are cleaner than roads and I expect to have nothing flying up and chipping my car. Also the limited cars run on a PCGB track day maximise the space on track so there's no need to be up close behind any car. So, you'd be more unlucky than on the road if a stone flew out of someone else's tyre and hit you.

OK, enough about stone chips - it doesn't happen IMHO[:)]

Update!

So far we have 2 Spyders and I think 4 Boxsters signed up for this fantastic event. We are however significantly outnumbered by our rear engined bretheren!

Why not make a weekend of it, drive the Evo Triangle, eat fish and chips by the sea, join us for a pint at the legendary Groes Inn and enjoy a parade of 100 Porsches on the Prom at Llandudno on Sunday 28th April.

BOOK NOW to avoid disappointment!

To obtain a booking form, please email trackdays@porscheclubgb.com, or telephone Club office on 01608 652917 or download the form from www.porscheclubmotorsport.co.uk.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any difficulty downloading the booking form.

same day as the GT CUP at Donnington :-(

The GT Cup Championship caters for almost all GT cars as well as modern GT3 models including McLaren MP4 12C, Nissan GTR, Ferrari 458s and Porsche 997.

Well I suppose it was always going to clash with something.

That's for watching though, not doing (well, for the likes of me anyway)! Besides, there's 10 more rounds of the GT Cup before September, this is the only chance this year to get to Anglesey with PCGB or, I think, on an exclusively Porsche day at all.

Would love to see your Spyder showing me the way round, I remain very much the enthusiastic novice.

Sorry cant join you guys - I am in the US and will not be travelling back until the Monday!

Sorry you can't make it John.

Is it just me or is that video completely staged? I must be getting too cynical in my advancing years! It is very funny though.

It's also my birthday on that day so gives you Spydermen time to save up for a present..[:D] and before anyone asks i will not see 67 again ..yes that old[:D] [:D]. wonder if this makes me the most senior Spyder owner ??
