With all my previous cars there has always been things which are usefull must have upgrades.

Is there anything like this for the boxster?

Things like quick shift kits, exhausts, chips, or anything else that anyone here has installed and now would not be without?

Hi

Ironicaly I owned a VW VR6 Hatch prior to my Boxster, but never "modded" it. Yet I have "modded" my Boxster - even though every mod seems more than triple anything I would have spent on the VW !

A quick trawl through the forums reveals such things such as , X51 Powerkits, PSE Exhausts, Bose Upgrades, Stereo Upgrades, M030 suspension, de-snorkling, quick shifts, Litronics, 19" vs 16" wheels, clear light upgrades, quick shifts, etc etc etc. In fact modifying is not contained to older models I think almost every 997 is sold with some non basic exhaust !(?)

From my own experience the Boxster (986) exhaust is not sporty enough, and the ICE sound is terrible. Both of which I have modded and very satisfied that I had !

X51 is a 997 option.

I think it's important to distinguish between factory options, performance mods and bling. The only "real" mod in that list is M030 which is a factory option.

This may help decide on your "mod" :

Stumbled across a 31 page booklet entitled "Tequipment Boxster - Accessories for the Boxster (986) ". Contained in it is a "modders"/ "Bling" wet dream!
Examples:
Fuel Filler Cap with Alu finish Aero Boxster Kit (Spoilers/Skirts etc) 18" Techno Wheels + other designs
Xenon Kit Res/White tail Clusters Short Shifter
Sports Exhaust Sports Suspension Sports Tail Pipe
Alu Look Interior Wood Panel Interior Carbon Look Interior
Porsche High Performance Audio System Speedster Rear Section
Crested Valve Caps

And guess what - on the back of the booklet "Tequipment is a registered trademark of Dr.Ing.h.c.f. Porsche AG "

Seems like the good doctor had some Bling in his DNA !![8D]

On the back it says Tequipment is a registered trademark of Dr. Ing...Porsche !

Whether it's Porsche AG or not short shifters, crested valve caps, sports exhausts, shiney tips, etc = bling.

Porsche AG didn't get to be the most profitable car manufacturer on the planet by failing to separate a fool from his money. [:D]

Take a drive in an 030 car with a trackday alignment - you will see the light. [8D]

I do agree to some extent - I've seen some really gaarish looking Porsches !
I have M030 as standard fit on my Boxster - but have not track day'd yet. Is it worth having it all aligned with only 25k on the clock - and who's the best if you live in Surrey/M25 ?

Cheers

Yes - worth having done (more so with the M030 - it is more liely to go out of alignment.

GT-One at Chertsey are your guys for this.

Hi Dan

Don't listen to the vast majority of crap talked regarding you should do this and you should do that, it's your car at the end of the day, do what makes YOU happy and to hell with the consquences.

Here is a taster of what I have fitted to mine;

Short shift C/W housing so I can switch back whenever, absolutely essential IMHO.
18" Sport designs with anthracite centre, 17"s advertised on pistonheads.
Smart top, absolutely essential IMHO.
Loads of badges and decals.
Red trimmed X 4 car mats.
S/S sill guards.

I would love to fit a sports exhaust but really want to hear one first, also my car has the Tequipment tailpipe option which I have started to quite like.

Sorry for being thick, but what is M030 ?

Factory sports suspension. 10mm lowered ride height with much stiffer springs. The yanks have a softer option so ours was often referred to as ROW M030 (Rest of world).
