Personally, I'd go for the Michelins, then the Pirelli. On 17" wheels I found the Conti's were horrible in comparison - no confidence whatsoever. Others however love them, not sure they have ever compared to the others though![;)]

Have never tried other brands .Car came with Conti from new when I got it and just changed to Contis again this time sport 3 no issues cost will be approx £ 500 for set fitted

Thanks guys, I have the 18" Conti Sport Contact 2 at the moment, so may well try the Contact 3's. thanks again

Hi,

Can anybody recommend an excellent tyre for Boxster 2.7? I've heard that the Conti Sport Contact 2, Michelin Pilot Sport 2, and Pirelli P Zero Nero are all good.

They all seem to be about the same price. Which is best for the money?

thanks
Geoff

Michelin every time! For predictable handling, wet weather grip and a good wear rate on 18" Carreras I have been impressed: I am on my second set now.

It is all down to personnel choice everyone will come up with there favorite I changed to Conti 3 because they no longer make Conti 2 in a 17" so now have a almost new set of 255/55 91Y N0 anyone want to buy then ??

Send me a pm and I will send you a photo off them ..remember you will have to budget for carriage X Glasgow If you want I will throw in a pair of rears 235 /50 /96y N0 with a few ml still on then for FREE brian.wood2@tiscali.co.uk

Never had any complaints with the factory fit Michelin Pilot Sports that mine came wih (on 18" turbo wheels) - these were the old MXM tread pattern, not the later chevron pattern which aren't N rated for the 986 Boxster. On other rear wheel drive cars i've owned i couldn't wait to get any continental sport contact tyres off, truly awful in the wet - i would never fit contis by choice, but thats my personal preference. I've had Michelins on my old 986 and my current 987S and thats what they get replaced with.
