Boxster Unlocking Problem

I have noticed this evening that when unlocking the passenger compartment or the rear luggage compartment - the front luggage compartment also unlocks. Fortunately the car is under warranty but has anyone come across this before.

What year?

Some cars with electric trunk switches do strange things when dirt gets in the switches.

When they are repairing it, you may want to get them to set the security locks which lock the car once it goes over 5mph if you haven't already done so. Gives you a bit more piece of mind when cruising the 'hood.

I agree - I had that done as well.
I got ribbed for it here on the forum, but I don't see why a little extra security is a bad thing...

Can definitely recommend Dapster's and Mark's suggestion.

I had this done to my boxster at the last service. It just makes me feel a bit safer.

[:)]

I had mine done 'cos I'm too lazy to lock the doors.

A false economy though - you have to waste all that saved energy by tugging the door handle twice when you get out!

Update ........

Tuesday morning the car decided at speed to unlock the front luggage compartment 5 times. In the end we decided it was safer for it to come home and await recovery.

Eight minutes (yes you read that right) after the call was put into call assist (It's doesn't have Porsche Assistance) and the low-loader was outside the door and I am pleased to say it was the correct type of low loader (not the sort that damages the front bumper like the last time)

Anyway the very nice people at Porsche Bristol identified it as a faulty microswitch, a new one was ordered yeasterday and fitted on arrival this morning. The car was duly collected and was beutifully valeted inside and out (With the tyres being blackened as well).

My test drive with them in a Boxster S has been re-booked for this Friday and we are basing our discussions on a nice midnight blue one with stone grey part leather, 19" Carerra S wheels, PASM, wind deflector, CD autochager and an upgraded sound system. Hopefully I will like it

[&o]Catherine PASM!! Are you planning doing many trackdays? As an on road feature it just about destroys the wonderful standard user friendly Boxster set up IMO[:-]

No, no track days. Apart from the available car has PASM, I had been given varying opinions on PASM/19" wheels and I do want 19" wheels (I think they make the car).

I had been told by people who have driven the car PASM sorts out the ride issues with the 19" wheels and at the same time I was told by others that a 19" wheel makes very little difference and therefore PASM would be a waste. My understanding is that a lot of the Boxster S demo cars are runnin on 19's with PASM, so to find one for a test drive without maybe a bit trick.

[:-]Well there are a few 2.7 demos running a standard set up but with 18" wheels you could possibly try one of those, but the PASM makes the ride extremely jiggly and hard when in sport mode which if not being tracked has no serious day to day road use IMO
