Boxster vs 911 - boring!!!!

Why this constant Boxster vs 911?? Poor relation, poor man's version etc etc.

I don't see the same comparisons being made on say a Z4 and a 6-series Cab??? Or that the Elise is the "poor man's Exige"....

I think it's quite funny and console myself that even though a 911 isn't (yet) on my roadmap I know I could most probably out-drive the majority 911 drivers in my lowley 987 S on the road or around any circuit they choose!!!

You are just adding more fuel to the debate here with your comment about out driving 911 owners !

Having owned 3 Boxsters the last being the 'S' and 5 911's I don't presume either to be better than the other or whatever, its all about personal choice and what you get the pleasure from; all of then have th egood and bad points.

The Boxster 'S' was a great car in every respect, but it was not for me; so I have gone back to the 911 (996) which is what I enjoy driving.

I agree there are some stupid debates about people only by a BOXSTER because they can't afford a 911.

At the end of day its what you enjoy driving that counts

Right - my £0.02.

The Boxster is a bloody fine car. Yes it's cheaper (better value) than the 996 / 997 (The REAL 911 went out of production in 1989 for the record), but that doesn't mean it's any less of a real Porsche.

As for out driving 911's on the track with Boxsters that's not a new trick, several of us have done that on many occasions.

However, if you can't rise above the occasional hairdresser's car / poor man's Porsche jibes you should either get a thicker skin or a sense of humour as much of it is in jest.

Just drive your cars as Porsche intended & enyoy them for Christ sake. It shouldn't matter what other people say.

I'm not afraid to put my hand up say "That's why I bought a Boxster".

I've never riden in a 911 let alone driven one so I can not comment on the difference. I still get as much of a "buzz" getting in to my lowly 2.7 as I did when I left the showroom 5 years ago.

The only other Porsche I now desire would be a Crocodile.

I've been driven round the Ring in a 968CS - and I never threw up!

JCB..

I love my boxster - that's why I own it.

Think other Porsche's are ace - right along the line from 356's to 911's but chose to have a Boxster. Who cares what anyone else thinks of any of us or our cars.

End of! [:)]

You don't hear the "I bought my Boxster because I don't like the 911s ar*e end" reason much but 'till they get a better rear and stick it on a 4S I'm sticking with the Box.

And yes the Boxster Vs 911 thing is VERY televised paint drying.
