There have been several "standard" wheels, and many different "option" styles for the Boxster, in sizes from 17" to 19"

On reflection I'm tempted to think that your tyre wear problem may be simply cos the tyres are too big for the car, but getting a proper alignment will still be money well spent.
As for looking for new wheels, there is always a healthy trade in used Porsche wheels on ebay, I should know I've bought and sold more than a few! If you need to transport wheels, I can recommend these folk https://www.paisleyfreight.com/ (no connection, just a satisfied customer)

Many thanks for your assistance and recommendations John, I have bought an (identical style to my existing set) set of Boxster wheels utilising Paisley freight to deliver them and what an excuse to visit Edinburgh to see CLCM.
