Boxster width

I have a new Boxster S due for delivery soon. Can anyone tell me if the 1801mm stated width is including or excluding external mirrors as I really would like to be able to use my garage!

Excluding mirrors.

The width quoted is the widest part of the main body. for example, if you put a tape measure under the car just in front of the back wheels, you'll notice that the rear arches are a fraction wider than the wheels and these equate to the figure stated.

You must have a really narrow garage if it won't fit in.

Unfortunately modern houses come with narrow garages, our old Barratts house had 1" spare on each wing mirror! Thought I suppose replacing the garage door with one using a different pivotting system would have allowed 2" on each side. Older houses don't seem to suffer from this though.

Well i'd put the blame firmly with Barratts then. We bought a brand new Persimmon, 20 months ago and I have a couple of inches clearance either side of the mirrors. I thought all new houses had standard sized garage doors.

I got the tape measure out last month and from the brochure my car has about six or seven inches to spare, my house is a Wimpey about 13 months old with up and over garage doors.

I'll let you know if it fits in about a week :D

Fair enough to blame Barratts, everything else about the house was (allegedly) dodgy so why not the garage door too!

Other people have this problem to, I thought it was just me[:D]

The en-suite for our main bedroom is above the garage, and the drain lines run down through the garaage against the wall. So I have a quite resonable width garage totally destroyed by the drain lines being boxed around with boards. It has to be seen to be believed.[:(]

Useless gits.

Thanks for all of the comments and the thoughts on builders!!!!

My garage is actually 7ft wide (ie 2134mm) and as the car is 1801mm excluding the mirrors my calcs indicate I have 166.5mm for each mirror. Hopefully this should be enough so that I can order the electric door.

many thanks
