boxter - an every day car ?

Hi

Just registered after being inspired as my brother in law recently bought a boxter although he only uses at weekends.

I travel 35 miles per day to and from work (70 miles total) and do approx 22k per year.

Could be a midlife crisis (48) but thinking of getting a boxter in spring 2010 or 2011 and running for 12 months with a view to selling after doing approx 20k (unless I decide to keep it!!)

Is the boxter 2.7 a feasible everyday car and presuming I bought something with approx 40k on the clock (max value about £15k) how well would it hold value ?

Only an idea at this stage but already getting excited.

I would normally buy my cars from a dealer with full service history etc and 12 months warranty s not mechanically minded so could not work on myself.

Any thoughts or feedback appreciated.

Regards

Richard

If there are enough seats and space in the boots for you it is a practical as any other modern car and even reasonably economical.

Go for it, 2.7 is practical, fun and economical at around 25mpg (my tiptronic average) or about 27mpg (old 986 manual I had) but wait till after winter, say January February to buy.
Alternatively pick up a decent deal by buying just when folk like me are putting their toys away for the winter and would rather have the garage space! There are lots of ads on Pistonheads, but watch out for the ones that have been hanging around for a while. I just checked and it seems some cars have been there for months. Odd.

Check out the other postings on the same subject and good luck.

Oh, and the club is good fun too.

My wife bought a 2004 2.7 986 just over 3 years ago to use as a daily drive. Fantastic car - quick, economical and practical.

Highly recommended.

Have emailed you about 2010 [;)] and my Boxster

Is the boxter 2.7 .........

The BoxSter [:D] 2.7 is a hugely practical car .. IF 2 seats works for you .. loads of storage / boot space .... fairly cheap to run (using indies for a older than say 3 year car) and HUGE amounts of fun ..

go for it

PS welcome to the club and sorry for the spelling corrections :)
