Boxter Electrical Fault Continued.

Hi All,
I have come back to this thread again, after deciding to live with the fault as it wasn't causing any great problems.
The problem that I now have is, I recently had a problem with my key fob, so gave my local Porsche Centre a call, they advised a new fob, which I decided to go ahead with. This actually did seem to fix some problems such as windows and unlocking rear and front boots. I did however have the problem with the double beep when unlocking the car. I gave Porsche another call to discuss this, they suggested I book the car in for a diagnostics check, they called me with the results to tell me they had takeover a problem with the drivers door locking system, which needed renewing, after recovering from the shock of the cost, I decided to go ahead and have the work done. They returned the car to me the next evening, I chaced it and it unlocked OK without a sound. The next day overtime I unlocked the car (3 times) I got the doable beep from the alarm. I have tried calling them a couple of times, was told that they would get the guy dealing with me to call me back, with no response as yet? I have checked the manual which states: A double horn signal during LOCKING educates a fault in the central locking or alarm system. I am now thinking could I have read this wrong in the first place? although I did not get the double beep unlocking the car the first time it was returned to me.
I would appreciate any thoughts on this. I do intend trying to contact Porsche again tomorrow.

Thanks Keith

Probably know this already but check glove box and centre console doors are properly closed as these often cause a double beep if not.

With what I suspect you have had done and paid for then the OPC needs to do another diagnostic check and fix what's gone wrong if it's at all to do with the repair they have done.

Single beeps are for the glove box, boot, bonnet.
Double beeps are related to an ecu problem.
Any damp (any at all) under the passenger seat, this is where the alarm ecu lives.
Dampness either now or before can cause corrosion on the contacts = problems.

Hello Robin,
Thanks for your reply. It is looking like a visit to Porsche Centre Cambridge is on the cards, I have tried contacting their service advisor today for what is now the third time, once more he was on the phone I was again told he would call me back. It would appear that for some reason he doesn't want to talk to me.

No I did have a new kenwood head fitted, by a reputable company, but have not got them to check it out. I did have a Porcche secialist company run a diagnostics check and that did not come up as a fault, our local Porsche Centre have also run a diagnostics and only came up with a locking fault? Thanks

I did check on Lancster's web site and got the details of their service manager. Before taking the matter to him, I called to talk to the service adviser one last time and got to speak with him. No apology for not answering my calls, he also forgot what work they had done on my car. Anyway I am now taking it in again tomorrow for them to check again. So hopefully I will get a favourable response. Cheers

Hello, The latest update is, after persistence on my part I finally managed to talk with the service advisor concerned, we arranged for me to take my car in the next day. When I arrived I told him that I would wait there for the issue to be resolved. He came back later to tell me they had found a similar fault on the passenger door, I told him that I was not happy with this as that fault should have shown up when they run their checks, he told me that this is all going to take time and that he would arrange a lift home for me and call me later when they had more information. Later in the afternoon he called to say that they had found and fixed the fault, which was a bad connection on the wiring loom to the door, he also hastened to add that the original diagnosis of the faulty door lock still stood. So far all is now OK. It took almost another day to sort it out, thankfully at no extra cost to myself.
Cheers Keith
