boxter Immobilizer problems

Hi,
I have a 03 Boxster S
When I went to unlock it today the light on the key fob didn't work so I had to unlock the car using the key which set the alarm off, putting the key in the ignition solved the problem OK. When I got home I changed the battery, but still nothing worked using the fob.
Does anyone know how to remedy this? Any help appreciated.
Thanks jb1

Firstly, make sure fob battery is replaced correctly and making contacts. Then try this. Unlock car using key in lock. Open car and put key in ignition within 10secs of opening. Do not start car! Press unlock button on key fob. Withdraw key and see if fob is now working. There is info on this, I believe, in the manual. BTW, do all of the above with fingers crossed![;)]

If the above doesn't work then your switches may have come detached from the circuit board on the remote.

if you find that the other buttons work and one doesn't then its quite likely you need to get the remote repaired. (check the red led when you press the button)

pop the remote open and have a look at them.

They are quite easy to repair if you have basic soldering skills. just get a new microswitch and solder it on (surface mounted so a bit fiddly).

Hi tscaptain,

Thanks for your reply, I tried what you mentioned but it didn't work[:(]

It is strange I did change the battery because the led was not working, now when I press the open button the led flashes on for a split second, if I hold the open button down the led flashes constantly. I had a new fob from Porsche last year, so could mean a visit to them.

Thanks jb1
