Boxter S Revo Technik Remap

New member
Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum today and keen to see if anyone has any experience of what I'm about to put my pride and joy through.... I've got Boxter S and it's booked into Drivers this week for a stage one remap using Revo Technik.
Anyone had any experience of doing this??
Cheers,
lee

Not that I've seen.

Just have to point out your warranty will be void (if you have one) - don't be offended at having this pointed out! [:D]

Also ought to say that you'll get better bang-per-buck by going to Knockhill and booking in to a driver training course (or you may have done so already! [8D])

Let us know how you get on. Would be very interested to know how you feel the car performs before / after.

Good luck

Cheers Mark.
The remap is apparantley undetectable by Porsche diagnostics as the ECU isn't actually being changed. The car is still on warranty but I've also heard that as i've color coded my wheels I've invalidated the warranty!! [8|]
Re Knockhill, I've done a lot of driving up there and I think that's one of the reasons I want to get the Boxster remapped.
I'll let you know once its done, fingers crossed!!
Cheers

I would have put the car to Wayne Schofield and Chips Wizard and spent some cash on the exhaust.

Will be interesting. I don't think they have a rolling road so I guess the remap is simply an optimisation based on removing Porsches conservative fuel air parameters.
I did see a 997 GT3 RS in there getting this and race cats done - big bucks.
You may get some gains , but to achieve the best you can get from the car you need someone like Wayne to spend some time on it.Quite a few of our region have used him - he is the best.
Is there any info from prev Revo customers n the Boxster section of the forum?
All the best , keep us posted , remember if you have to measure the gain and can't feel it in your pants it probably wasn't worth it.

Cheers Mike58.
To be honest I hadn't heard of Wayne Schofield until the previous post. I 'googled' him but noticed the website was down, it's certainly something worth considering as I found another few threads on him and everything I read seemed very positive.
I drop the car off at lunchtime today and pick it up at 5pm so pretty keen to see what it's gonna be like. I'll make a post tonight when I (eventually) get home....
Cheers.

To be clear, Porsche will find the cars been remapped if they look hard enough - normal servicing menus on the diagnostic won't look deep enough. Also make sure you have soem backup from Revo if at any point Porsche load a revised map themselves during servicing - you'll lose your Revo map in the process, so it will need to be installed again.

I think its Revo who have an option for a plugin unit where you can switch back and to yourself ?

Cheers Black80XSA, I agree that if Porsche really wanted to they would see the car has been remapped, as long as it doesn't show up on the service.
Apparently Revo give me a 12 month warranty on the work they do but I also understand that in the event that the manufacturer were to load a revised remap, revo will re-install the software at no additional cost to me.
Regarding the switch, I understand that this is only pertinent to stage 2 and stage 3 mods and I believe they are only available to turbo'd cars.
Only an hour to go....!
Cheers.

Wynes website is a disaster, it is best to get him on the phone ,the no. is on the site.
best of luck with the remap I'm sure you will feel some extra urge at he top end.

Well, picked the car up last night and I have to say I'm quite impressed. There is a distinct difference in the way the car puts the power down. I've not been out and really opended it properly yet as the weather was pretty poor last night but low down in the rev range the car definitely puts the power down quicker. Mid range in 2nd and 3rd is pretty quick too. It actually feels a little like it was trying to spin when accelerating hard in 2nd up to the red line.
I have to say the guys at Drivers were brilliant and I'd certainly reccommend their services.
I've been told that it could take up to a couple of hundred miles for the car to 'settle' into it's remap and have been told to expect it to feel quicker over the next couple of weeks as I go through a tank of juice and get some miles on it. I'll keep you posted!
Cheers for the interest, feedback and kind wishes.

Great news, sounds like you got a good result there, don't forget to keep it running on top octane fuel while the adaptive sequence is underway, optimax or I believe Tesco high octane are good choices.
Mike

Cheers Mike, have to say I'm well chuffed!
Regarding the fuel, good call. I've ran it on high octane fuel since I got it and I can vouch for Tesco's high octane fuel having used it several times.
Cheers,
Lee

interesting this, as with my previous discussion with Wayne he said there was no point in doing anything with a boxster/996 unless there was a change to the breathing as there was nothing more to give - he said a lot of "remappers" will make the car feel different, but may actually reduce the overall performance to do so simply by changing the power curve to make it more peaky at lower revs......not trying to put down what has been done here, just my understanding that remapping a NA porsche without breathing changes was essentially futile....

Well the same guy got me up from 360 to 385 2 months ago on my GT3 ??
He probably was taking into account the Ginger factor and the fact that you had fitted - Lunch Control [:)]
Seriously , Wayne I don't think BS me but perhaps the GT3 engine is quite tuneable compared to 996/Boxster.
Bottom line is , compare against another car of similar milage/ year and weight or preferably a car that you have raced/ dragged against , then you can see the changes.

Mike, I was referring to bog-standard M96 engined boxster/996 being futile - wayne said a lot could be done to the GT1 based engines...my comment was aimed at the boxster tuning above......to the point where wayne said he wouldn't take on a job with a boxster unless it had new headers...

I agree with Grieg, exactly what Wayne said.

So, I fitted a pair of stainless sports mainfolds - lovely rort.....
