Boxtser 2003 Rattle

Hi all, my boxster has developed a rattle, it appears to be coming from the drivers side, just behind the back wheel. Only rattles when you rev over 1500? Any ideas, common faults etc.... Thanks

Heatshield; easy to replace or tighten the fixings if not fully corroded with rust.

I think you'll need to replace the fixings - they are a sort of Dzus-type of fastener and lock in an over-centre action - they can't really be tightened. (Have you got different ones Kish?)

About £5 a set - buy 3 sets - you'll probably find 2 need to be replaced on one side, and 1 on the other (that's what I've had twice with my car so far!)

£5 a set. Think again, old style one's £38 for 6 screws and captive nuts. New style stainless steel bolts £60 for 6 screws and captive nuts from your friendly OPC. Just bought some today, I feel like I was mugged.

They cost me about £5 a set last time I bought them - so that would be £15 per heatshield. Not far off your £38?
(Did you really need all 6? I've found the most needed was 3 sets across the 2 heatshields)

Don't forget to ask for club discount!

I had to replace all three on one heatshield, only one rusty one was left, shockingly expensive when you considering that they will have only cost pennies to manufacture.

Can't disagree with that - It's a crazy price. But at least it's an affordable DIY job [;)]

No need to buy the OPC items, I replaced all on my car with simple stainless steel bolts and nuts at pennies.
