hi all,

I assume that the event on sunday at silverstone will still be going ahead, despite the weather?? not heard any otherwise. Looks like jacket and umberella maybe required! good old british weather hey.....

regards,

DEAN CRAWFORD.

Sounds like we'll need more than that. I was thinking of bringing my Henri Lloyd Ocean suit and seaboots but doubt if we'll be staying around long. The centre isn't exactly the ideal venue when the weather is bad. The upside is, fingers crossed, that the Tannoy system won't be working and broadcasting that intensely annoying music outside.

I think it's safe to say you may qualify for a 'Top gear' 'Mildly Moist' rating. Not sure a brolly will help you unless you are trying to take off.

Just got back from Silverstone. What a truly miserable experience. We left after an hour. I know the weather was bad but that was much less of an issue than Porsche GB's event planning capabilities. Maybe my expectations were too high but the Porsche Experience Centre once again delivers a lack lustre experience. What a wasted opportunity to roll out a great new product. I was under the impression that this was a launch event for the new Boxster but with only one static display of the car and no obvious promotional collateral on view you would have been hard pushed to believe this. Not impressed.

What a sad contrast to the superb event staged by my local OPC (Bournemouth) which was no doubt repeated by OPC's across the country. Glad I didn't make the (considerable, in view of the weather) effort to attend

Weather did not help but I wonder what we all would have done even if it was dry.

You would expect more than one new Boxster and sessions explaining (dare we say even selling it) what it brings to the party. Food good as usual and little of it as usual but having to go outside to a "roach coach" for even a coffee was cheap.

My thoughts exactly. The Porsche marketing team should be truly ashamed of today's travesty. And to think the Cotswold Rally was rescheduled because of this (although because of the weather it was probably a blessing in disguise). This was most definitely not an event befitting a premium brand. It's certainly no time to be complacent when the Jaguar F type is on the horizon.

How many people who bought tickets actually turned up? Silverstone in the wet is not a nice place to be and the forecast was spot on

For those who went, how busy was it?

I hope they parked everyone close to the building.

Well we have just returned from a fantastic day out at Silverstone. Despite the awful weather a surprisingly large number of people were there and all the driving experiences were fully booked. Porsche even bought in extra staff to run shuttles from the PEC out to the various driving experiences. They put on a good display of cars inside including a few out of the Porsche Museum. Lunch was superb and the guided tours very informative. Everyone we met seemed to be having a great day. Special mention to the club volunteers for standing out in the pouring rain directing the cars in!

What a blessing in disguise for GI and his Cotswold Rally which had to move date to make way for the aqua event!

I better join the stampede for tickets - its on 27th May folks![8D][8D]

Compared to last year it was dead quiet. I arrived at 11.00am not in my garage queen and parked right outside the actual centre

Car park was pretty empty and stayed that way until I left about 3.00ish

Weather seems to have definitely stopped play this year []

having returned from boxster and beyond today, i'm really glad we made the effort to drive from Nottingham to attend. Not being put off by the numerous accidents on the M1, and sketchy driving conditions! All the staff at the experience centre need a medal standing out in those conditions, and to remain smiling and polite is a credit to the centre. We were very suprised how many cars were there despite the weather, and had a fantastic time. Thanks to Bob our 4X4 experience driver, who brought a smile to our faces!

Hi All,
This event sounds it was for the brave,Silverstone in the rain
Is always going to be tough, been there on a motorcycle and that
was not a memorable experience!
Well done to everyone who attended.
Got my car Mot on Saturday and was lucky whilst there
coolant came pouring out of the filler cap,
my own fault as had not done the cap up fully!
Lost about 3litres with the vacuum process.
Managed to fill up a bit with water whilst in the garage, but was
lucky would have been a nightmare on the road!
Will top this week with Porsche genuine coolant.
Water everywhere this weekend so decided to play it safe and stay home!
Happy driving,roll on summer![8|]

HI all, i also made the long trek from Nottingham through lots of puddles on the way, my opinion of the day was that the new boxster is brill !! the staff at the center were very helpful ,i would agree with others that going out side to get a coffee was a bit steep you would of thought they would offer some sort of small refreshments in the main area, i also did the kick plate and the off road and also the the low friction, kick plate being the best by far.
just cant believe the weather on monday what a shame
happy times
Gary

I was there on Sunday with my son. Surprised at the turn out. A good mix of cars (lots of Boxster's) on the infield parking.
Everyone was helpful and despite the crap weather managed to put a smile on their faces. I agree that there was not enough of the new Boxster. Thought they would have managed a run out in one as it was (I thought) to showcase it? But on the whole a great day.
All the staff were great. Even the poor old Volunteers (R10? well done Paul) looked cold and very wet [:)]
Really enjoyed the Kick Plate, thanks Merve for making me feel good even though I was not [8D] and the 4x4 was a real experience. So they really can do that[&:] Any way enjoyed the day.
