Hello to all,

could someone give me some help on where i can get a bra for my car? That can be either the OEM Porsche Bra or the Colgan Bra. I tried Porscheshop.co.uk but the told me they need 3-4 months for the item to be in stock... Unfortunatelly i can not wait that long & Porsche Dealer here in Greece does not have that item at all!

Regards,

Nikos.

Gosh-Dont ruin the car with one of those infernal things...save the cash and get the front end resprayed evry year or 2!!

Well, the good thing is that my car is black, so it will not show that much, the bad thing is i live in Greece...so you see a lot of flying debris...
I only intent to use it for long journeys and not "every-day" use!!! True!!![:)]

You can try getting it ordered from the States; everyone seems to use it there and I do agree they make the car look really ugly but hey, you know what is best for your car...

I hope you have NOT put a bra on your car.....[:'(][:'(][:'(]
I will have to look out for it when in Greece....[:(][]
Cheers

Ela Niko,

I have gone the clear-bra route for my 987 Boxster S and can tell you its every bit worth the money. Its not really known as a bra but more of a PPF (paint protection film) and come in pre-cut pieces that are applied to the body using a combination of soapy water and isopropyl alcohol sprays.

Its been on the car for a year now since new and is just as good looking as day one. When you approach the car you won't notice it untill you stand some 2 feet away. But more than anything, its' given me piece of mind on the main roads and motorways. Its gut wrenching to hear each and every whack from stones that are picked up and thrown your way.

Anyway, the packages in the UK are silly money (anywhere from £800-£1000) so i did some homework and got the whole front end kit including wing-mirrors for a reasonable £190 from the States.

Here are the pic's from the install: -

BTW, being freshly applied it needed a while for the material to form properly around the panels and it has since settled very nicely. Its no longer as emphasized as the pics show.

I applied all the pieces myself during one saturday and they were simple to do....all except the front bumper film. It was quite easily the hardest piece to handle with a lot of stretching and folding to get it to fit correctly. You see, they are all laser cut to just less than the exact measurements meaning you need to stretch the film slightly to get the edges to line up. I went the whole route and even wrapped the edges around the panels so no amount of wind or water would lift them.

If you choose to do the same, let me know and i'll forward the details of my contact in the States.

Regards

Popolou

Niko,

You might want to reconsider your belief that the chips won't show. Quite the opposite unfortunately - they show through as white very very very annoying marks
