Braided brake lines & pads

Hi, just wondering if anyone out there has fitted braided brake lines to their 996 and have any suggestions as to the best place to get the kit from. I won't be doing it myself but will be getting all the bits and pieces. Reason being that having only got the car a few months ago I did my first track day in her recently and the brakes go to mush after a while so, when it's time to change the pads in a few months time I thought I might as well get the brake lines done (and the fluid) at the same time. BTW I've had Performance Friction pads highly recommended to me but would like to solicit views on those as well.

All thoughts/views gratefully received.

Thanks,
P.

PF discs and pads are very highly regarded and a lot of GT3 owners use them. They are also almost half the price of the other most highly regarded disc/pad combination - Alcons+RS29.

Thanks Rodney, however, your response has prompted a thought, would I have to change the disks as well, or could I just change the pads? The front disks were replaced only about 5000 miles ago with genuine Porsche parts. Cheers.

Give Fearnsport a call they are the suppliers and will be able to talk you through the options. I'm pretty sure you can just get the pads without the discs too.

Fearnsport just changed all my ceramic brakes over to PF last week. Also had braided lines & Castrol SRF fluid installed at the same time. The brakes are still fantastic but have a bit more pedal feel than the ceramics had. The rear disks are standard 997 steels with the PF pads, so I don't see why PF pads can't be used on the standard front disks. The PF front disks are required if you want the brakes to last doing trackdays. Dom did the whole job in a morning while I waited & had a good look round some of the cars they're currently working on. Really nice people to deal with & they obviously know their stuff - I shall be using them for all future work on the GT3.

A nice (if expensive!) day out [:)]

Or you can OEM discs and pads from Eurocarparts for well under 1/2 the Porsche price, discs and pads take oh about 20 minutes per wheel to do, they really are that easy.

Brake hoses can be tricky as they tend to seize but if they haven't again not that difficult and then you need to blled the brakes. If you are not sure, leave the hoses and bleeding to a specialist and do the discs and pads yourself.
