Brak discs

Hi all, well I am having to replace my discs due to MOT. The problem I have us there are so many options, drilled and grooved, grooved, brembo etc.. I will replace all 4 rather than just the two that failed and pads. Would like them for everyday driving and the occasional trackday. Any suggestions on type and make would be appreciated

Thanks. Gavin

You haven't told us what model of 944 you have, but in general the stock set-up brakes, in good condition (callipers sliding freely / no plate lift, fresh fluid, well-bled, pads and disks in reasonable nick etc) should suffice for pretty much all driving you will want to do. Yes, if you have a high-output turbo and you go racing then you'll want to improve them, but for road driving and most trackdays, standard is perfectly fine.

Why are you planning to replace all four disks if two of them are still OK?

Hi oli, sorry about omitting details it is a Porsche 944S 2.5 16V, rolling road has the BHP at 186.

The reason I am replacing all 4 instead of just the two is purely that I am a bit fussy, just feel if doing 2 might as well do all 4.

Sliding callipers then - make sure they are in good nick, change the fluid (DOT5.1) and bleed them well and leave it at that.

Buy any brand apart from zimmerman. But given you may well be spending nigh on £100 a corner, I'd have thought that throwing away serviceable parts is needless extravagance.

Me too

Buy some Sebro discs from Bert @ Berlyn Services. Plain, not grooved or drilled.

Pads - depending on what sort of tyres you run, the standard Porsche pads (textar?) may well be fine.

I don't think there's a huge choice of pads for the sliding caliper - maybe EBC red or yellow (not a fan myself, but I believe they have improved)

Or speak to your local parts shop, I only paid £98 for both rear discs and was quoted £76 for the fronts, and no they were NOT cheap ones they are Sebro one Made iN Germany.
