Brake Caliper Plate Lift

George,
When I did the 964 calipers earlier this year,I repainted the "filed"area of the aluminium with an etch primer, then sprayed several coats of satin gloss black high temperature paint(available in aerosols) as a top coat.I re-used the SS plates by flattening them & checking the fit & refitted them using SS(316) quality Buttonhead setscrews which had some plain shank using Loctite threadlok, only on the tips of the bolts. As the threaded holes are counterbored at the top,you can use setscrews. These cost £5 at the local engineering factor. It is essential to have replacement brake pipes to hand as the fitted ones won't normally come off without damage. These cost approx £5 at the local brake factor made to your sample, for an axle set.
Just my 2 pen'orth.
Cheers,
Colin.

Hi Fen,

Again - it looks a bit different to the one I have - My pages don't have the magazine title in the footer.

I looked at a few other piccies on that link. 9EX - wicked registration number. I showed it to beloved - she tutted!

9EX was a fun plate to run when it was spaced as a block of 3 - I eventually got a tug one day for that and the bolt through the 9, which just served to reduce my already minimal respect for the Babylon still further as it was doing no harm. In fact within 10 minutes of that incident I had a young girl in the passenger seat of a car in front taking pictures of it on a camera phone and I lost count of the number of times people would point and smile at it.

The plate is for sale as far as I know if anyone here fancies it.
